For Leo at this stage I think more than $600K might be overs. He’s good but was a little flat at times this year. Trouble is we paid Dan on potential and look where that got us. Don’t want to make the same mistake with Leo.Jones, Lucas, Croker - all good cap friendly and quality roster signings. Knights developed and willing to take market value or less to stay, and should perform at or exceed their salary.
This will be the trend in recruitment with Sully.
Hopefully Leo signs next on around no more than 600-650K
I don't see our cap improving dramatically until all the deadwood contracts end this time next year.
Without doubt, he has potential, but hopefully the paying on potential days are well behind us.For Leo at this stage I think more than $600K might be overs. Without there being many options out there I think POS might just try to plug a couple of holes for 2025 and we hit the market properly for 2026. Hard to sign big name marquee players when there aren’t any available.
Knights at a crossroads regarding spine. He wants to do a loan deal for a year. Surely no club here gives the storm that luxury.
Long drawn out negotiations. Lots of players switching clubs. So it's Nov 1st very soon. We expecting to see a flurry of activity or just be a boring 6 months?
I meant specifically for the Knights!Long drawn out negotiations. Lots of players switching clubs.
I think I have to watch it now just to hear their justification for such an incredibly poor opinion.I’m usually a big advocate for the Bloke in a Bar podcast
but their latest episode is about who each club should target and they all pretty much agreed we should be offering Josh King a 650k contract to come back
Was Michael Hagan the special guest?I’m usually a big advocate for the Bloke in a Bar podcast

How the hell did they come up with that number??I’m usually a big advocate for the Bloke in a Bar podcast

There were signs of a good first grader before King left the Knights. Storm picked him up at the right time in his development. Mid 20's and about to hit peak physicality - same stage as Jones and Croker will hopefully soon be at.Kingy is the best example of a Storm project player. Great to see him playing well. But he is in a system where you have to hit the mark every week or wear the consequences. It is the essence of Bellamy’s record. It is not about fear. It is about not wanting to let your mates down. You see everyone around you giving it their all. You don’t want to be left behind.
Really? Is 400k average for a guy who is starting in a top 4 side in the NRL these days? Sounds very low for some reason. Some middles are on a million these days? Surely Josh King can get 500k plus somewhere?King was pretty good towards the end of his time with us, and going to Melbourne has turned him into a pretty reliable first grader. But $600K+ is madness. He’d probably get about $400K somewhere. He’s a good workhorse type of guy but for around that price I’d prefer someone a bit more explosive.
Amusingly he would be the best prop on our books based on stats. He’d offer better value at 800k than Dan ever did. Not that I’m saying we should sign him.Surely Josh King can get 500k plus somewhere?
