Not everybody who gets criticised is a scapegoat. Sometimes they're just poor footballers. Kaysa is simply not up to first grade standard, the major reason BA keeps picking him is there is literally no one else. De Gois is in Disneyland and King is always injured.

Kaysa ran once for 4m last night. A makeshift Titans hooker, with an injury, ran more than he did (and more effectively). Issac Luke ran for 126m! Now running isn't the be all and end all for a hooker obviously, but you need to have a run in you and when you add that (which is supposed to be Kaysa's strength I might add) to his poor passing game, not having a kicking game and missing lots of tackles he's simply not doing well enough.
A running game keeps the markers honest because they can't just focus on the first receiver. Kaysa's reluctance to run the ball is one (not the only) reason our forwards have been getting belted.

I'm not really arguing with you but actual first grade coaching staff re-signed him and had him as first choice hooker before DeGois was injured.

You don't like him and that's fine but you have suggested he is our only problem which is flat out ridiculous!

Maybe he is the problem.......if we don't win soon everyone will be calling for his head quick smart.

Maybe he is not the problem?

I am not for or against Kaysa he is still effectively a rookie. He is clearly the scapegoat though i am just unsure if he is our problem.
With a 6 playing 7, a fullback/centre playing 6 and a rookie 1 in our spine you'd think with money to burn we would be looking to upgrade our 9 coming into this season??? Instead we got old man Isaac and two blokes who are made of glass and never showed anything to suggest they are first grade quality. But no we are just looking for scapegoats and everything is going great.

Maybe if the service from dummy half was first grade we could you know maybe have less trouble getting over the advance tine without the need to pop silly passes????

Nah mate, Pou doesn't reckon the hooker has anything to do with that sort of thing

Has anyone said he is our only problem? I posted this about our problems earlier:

So the general consensus is that BA has assembled a squad for 2017 that:
- has a bench second rower playing right center
- has middle forwards who push offloads because they are consistently getting dominated in the middle
- an inexperienced spine
- only 1 playmaker in the 7 who is our only kicker
- a non creative 9 who can't kick and misses a shitload of tackles
- a 6 who also can't kick

???

I think you've just really pointed to our problem. It is our very inexperienced spine that isn't helping on top of not being able to dominate in the play the ball.

I'm not suggesting everything is going well either, we've lost the last 3 games now. But to rip only one player apart for everything seems odd is all.

Hello everybody, do any of you think we need a creative hooker? I bloody well do, a creative hooker would help our halves and help Gutho adjust to his position. Has glimpses of greatness during games but not consistent yet. Give him time, look at some of the greats, Lockyer was average his first year at 5/8th, probably Cronk in his first year at half too. Maloney was thrown out by Parra as apparently didn't make an impression either, but would love him now. Many average players become good ones with time.

Yeah we may have cap space and yeah we should improve our top 17, but there is no use wasting it on some just because we can!! I am sure BA is waiting for the right player rather then wasting it on some one that isn't suitable for our squad.

Everyone reckons we should spend how 2017 cap space on a hooker or half but really who has been available in the last 6 months?

Please don't put words in my mouth, I've absolutely done no such thing. I've never said I dislike him and I said hooker is out BIGGEST problem, not our only problem.

He's been re-signed on potential, and that's fine because he's never been on much, but he's not first grade standard. Compare him to Jayden Brailey at the Sharks....

Off the top of my head Farah, McInnes, Segyaro, Cook

I'm not just blaming him, but i feel it all starts at dummy half and thats where the most of our problems lie. He doesn't pick himself so it's not all his fault, look how Cam Smith can get absolute plodders over the advantage line week in week out. It's why he will and should be an immortal. IDG has been a loss for us this year(crazy i know) he led our defensive line and missed SFA tackles in the middle. Sure his attacking game was mud but at least his service throughout was at a passable first grade standard.

Kritchard ran once for a try last night. And as I've stated, if a player isn't running the ball it's because it's not in the gameplan.

And if the dummy half isn't a threat running the ball then the forwards are easy pickings and get dominated often losing the ruck.

In fairness I wouldn't touch McInnes or Farah with a barge pole, and BA was interested in Segs before his behavioural issues became more widely publicised so he may have put a line through him for that reason, which is his right as a coach. Cook would have been nice, but at the time he wasn't showing anything better than what we had already really....I can understand why we didn't sign anybody for this season, but it was always going to be a concern at the same time

His service is fine. His biggest issue is the odd forward pass, which isn't a sign of poor service - it's a sign of good service pushing the rules. Most of the time he gets away with it.

As I said, if he's not running the ball it's because he's been told not to. At least since his ankle injury.

His injury has certainly coincided with our poor performances, though I don't see any causal relationship.
