Rumours and Stuff

I still think its bizzare that a CEO of a $1B game can see that the Broncos have a squad waaaay over the cap, yet be unwilling to do anything about it or be powerless to police it.

Toddy was interviewed when shit was flying around our club. When PKent said to him that the Broncos have a $12m roster all he could come up with was that if someone comes forward with information, then we will act upon it. FMD.
TV money, if the Broncos are winning the FTA rights are worth more, they love the Broncos winning.

Why will it be less than $9 million?

I will tell you now, if it's less than $9.5 million John Grant and more than likely Greenburgh won't have a job for long.
Exactly. Well the john grant firing squad will come out .... but teflon toddy will escape scrutiny as always

So if reports were correct that we have close to $3mil in the cap for next year, we look to have signed Moses and Evans, That would be about $1.3mil, so who we spending the rest on?

I reckon we now have the base of a very good squad but lack some leadership/experience.

I would look at:

Peats - $600k ?
Brett Morris - $400 to $500k after some paid by dogs
Tolman or Graham - $600k after some paid by the dogs

Plus I would look at re-signing the following players
Peni
Avua'a
Jennings
Twal
Niukore

I heard someone say on the telly (or was it posted here) that Woods made the Dogs agree that Graham would stay.
Des Hasler is not easily bent over. And Aaron Woods is not that good that he gets to dictate to new coaches who stays and who goes. I for one would love Graham.

Last year when he found form plenty of us including me wanted Moses before any half to partner Norman. The main reason was that he is a goal kicker and a specialist right side half. Foran when on the field went well last year but he was a manufactured right side half as Norman prefers the left.

I reckon there is still a chance of us jagging Moses for 2017. Just need the dust to settle.
I too believe we are a chance of getting him this year. It's bad enough having 1 player in a team when he is leaving at the end of a year but imagine 3.
They are not Melbourne and have a chance to win a premiership.
If tigers lose 2 or 3 in a row they will be thinking of next year and performances will drop.
This scenario isn't like others, it is best tigers cut their losses and release players and build for next year

On the revenue sharing:

What if players were to get 49% of revenue? They make the product what it is don't they?
So if it is $590mill, they should get something like $290 mill to be allocated towards player salaries. That would put the amount allocated to players at something like $18million per club.

Of course I don't know what the yearly administration/ promotion costs of the game are? But I would imagine giving each club $18million and setting the 30 man squad cap at a big number would be a good thing for the game overall.

Perhaps the NRL could stipulate certain benchmarks required to receive full amounts of funding? Perhaps they might like to war chest a couple of extra portions in order to have money to expand the game in the future?

I really feel like $300million is enough to administer the game though...

There are a heap of things for the NRL to spend money on, country football, admin, juniors*, promoting football in other states from ground up, international football and expanding markets, establishing code throughout islands, financing islander team in one or both states, etc, etc.
*Junior football should be taken over by NRL and establish a draft system based on where NRL club finished (similar AFL). Maybe clubs could pay a fee to NRL for every junior they get to help reimburse costs.

Hopefully... Not that I'm completely sold on him but he is an out and out half and that's what we need right now to partner Normz...

Someone made the comment around here (or maybe it was somewhere else, can't remember exactly), that if Woods and Tedesco sign elsewhere for 2018, Cleary won't be releasing them this year and so if he agreed to release Moses it would be double standards. The difference is though, we have the cap space to accommodate Moses for this year and can start paying him now. The Dogs and Roosters wouldn't have space for Woods and Teddy respectively so even if they wanted to go now and requested an immediate release, the Roosters and Dogs wouldn't be able to take them, unless Tigers agreed to keep paying their salary for the rest of 2017 - and that ain't gonna happen....

May as well signed him to coach the team.

Poor ol Robbie Farah got the ass from the tigers and was blamed as being the coach killer, but just maybe woods played just as big a part as Farah did.

The first thing Cleary should do is take the captaincy of that pillow Woods.

His behaviour throughout this whole affair has been disgraceful for a club captain.

Maybe the roosters would need to release Evans this year if they could snare teddy for 2017. Win win

Agreed 100%. But I have no doubt his manager has told him to play it out in the media. Isaac Moses is either going to take the tigers to the cleaners or pull the team apart. The merkin is a merkin. Nothing worse then seeing a struggling team continually be the laughing stock. We should know more then anyone.

Yep, but if Woods loved the club as much as he claimed he would of signed yonks ago and got the other 3 to as well. If he led by example and signed early none of this probably plays out like this they only missed the 8 by a game last season. Instead he has allowed the club to be ripped apart.

Yep. The thing that bothers me with recent comments I think from the trio, is that they said they'd like to play semi final footy. What a fcking cop out. Do they not know they are part of the team each and every year they miss out on the semis????? U wanna play finals, we'll make it happen merkins.
