Rumours and Stuff

If Foran stayed we might have lost Norman. We had to get under the cap remember.

Perhaps the right move was to play for no points in 2016 and be under the cap in 2017. I wonder what our squad would have looked like now.
I was blaming the management for going over the cap to start with, but yeah the better option may have been to play for no points and keep Peats, that is fine to say now but at the time we all wanted to make the finals ans we could have if Norman didn't stuff up and get suspended for 8 games which was a massive overaction as it looked like we might still make the 8 and the NRL made sure we didn't. Yet Foran IMO did worse and got 2 weeks, a mars bar and can of coke for his mistakes.

The NRL apparently would have made us get under the cap if we didn't do it voluntarily, so playing for no points wasn't an option.

I'd say every club has been told to work towards a cap of around $9.5 to $10 million.

So why would the NRL put forward the offer of a cap of approx $8.8 m?

No expect in negotiations but would think it would defeat your negotiating efforts if you put forward an offer to the clubs of $8.8 m while at the same time telling the clubs it's really going to be $9.5 - $10 m.

How could they be over, they haven't announced what the cap is?
Well we know it will be less than $9mil, Bulldogs working on a $10mil cap by the looks of it.
Roosters would be right they would be under this year and lose a couple for next and add Teddy they whould be sweet.
Dogs planning on not re-signing any off contract and hoping to off load a couple and only have to pay 20-25% of their contracts for the remaining years. Still watch the Dogs they need more than Foran anf Woods to turn them into a premiership threat.
Just Glad they didn't get Cronk.

OK I forgot that Todd was making shit up as he went along. First he said that if we wanted to play for points we'd have to get under the cap.

The NRL has put nothing to the clubs. They're negotiating with the Players Association, not the NRL clubs.

It's referred to as an Ambit claim and standard negotiating tactic.

So if reports were correct that we have close to $3mil in the cap for next year, we look to have signed Moses and Evans, That would be about $1.3mil, so who we spending the rest on?

Some clubs might have overspent and need to shed and some club won't give a rats because if they are $1M over they will just get TPAs worth $1M and the NRL will be fine with it.

I will tell you now, if it's less than $9.5 million John Grant and more than likely Greenburgh won't have a job for long.

Andrew Gee is the new Salary Cap Auditor is he......

I still think its bizzare that a CEO of a $1B game can see that the Broncos have a squad waaaay over the cap, yet be unwilling to do anything about it or be powerless to police it.

Toddy was interviewed when shit was flying around our club. When PKent said to him that the Broncos have a $12m roster all he could come up with was that if someone comes forward with information, then we will act upon it. FMD.

Foran has shown just in 3 days that he is a marquee player and worth big coin.

But I'm happy with Moses. I think he can become as good as Foran plus he kicks goals, is a Parra Jnr and comes with no baggage.

We win I reckon.
Last year when he found form plenty of us including me wanted Moses before any half to partner Norman. The main reason was that he is a goal kicker and a specialist right side half. Foran when on the field went well last year but he was a manufactured right side half as Norman prefers the left.

I reckon there is still a chance of us jagging Moses for 2017. Just need the dust to settle.
