That's just a basic role of the starting props. Some rare players are far better at it than others, but Alvaro is certainly no worse at it than Mannah. The pack leader for me is the guy who gets the rest of the pack going when needed, as Brown does....
Mannah pushed forward more. Alvaro goes ok but if fit id rather Terepo.

Terepo plays a different role to Mannah and is off contract so he's irrelevant to the discussion at hand tbh.

Alvaro is a better player than Terepo anyway.

Forget talking about Terepo and Alvaro - if the club was smart enough they should look to lock up our best forward by a stretch this season - Nathan Brown.

Yes he is signed next year, but just as the Dragons did with Vaughn, the smarter club's don't wait until their best players are in their off contract year.

EXTEND BROWN NOW !!

We were talking about Brown, and how he will be our forward leader in future. Period!

Terepo was our best proo in the few games he played.
Alvaro yet to be that guy. Terepo is a superior player. Big loss. For me he is halfway inbetween your matagi style and mannah style. Defense is great while work rates high. Can bust tackles and make breaks.

He made 83 and 74m in those games you reckon he was our best prop, at 8m a run. Only 20 odd tackles too. In the second game Alvaro was obviously better, 72m at 10m a run (Alvaro missed round 6).

Peni averaged 83m at 8m a run last season and 23 tackles in about 35 mins of footy. He breaks a few more tackles, but honestly he's very overrated on here. Good back up, but if we've truly signed Evans I doubt we'll re-sign Terepo purely because he'll probably want more than we're willing to pay a bloke who is 6th in the pecking order for props.

BA picked Terepo before Alvaro. He prefers to.

Whether that's true or not (and given Alvaro has started more games than Terepo in the last year or so, it's very debateable), Terepo is the one off contract, not Alvaro. Terepo makes less metres than Alvaro and doesn't run any harder. Defence is equal. Alvaro gets quicker play the balls and has better hands.

If we have signed Evans, why would we keep Terepo? It's not even a question of how good he is, it's a question of space.

Assuming he has signed with us, Mannah, Matagi, Alvaro, Vave, Evans, Brown, Scott are all on contract middle forwards. Based on our team make up so far, one has to miss out. Probably Alvaro or Vave. We have no need to keep Terepo, we can keep O'Brien for less money and re-sign Twal for less money....unless he settles for way less than someone like Newcastle or the Tigers can offer (and given his injury, he might) then he's probably gone. No matte how hard you overrate him, he is off contract and we have plenty of better players on contract.

Other sides can offer top 17 money. We can offer 6th choice prop money. Do the maths.

Only problem is that the player also has to want to extend their contract at this point. If you are confident in your ability, there's plenty of incentive to wait...particularly as we don't know what the cap is going to be in 2018, 2019, 2020.

Kaysa has come on leaps and bounds in the last month in particular after a slow start.

He's now contributing offensively and putting up solid numbers in defence...

If he keeps it up for the rest of the season I see no reason why we would need to recruit a hooker anymore
Simple answer, injury. You always need a decent backup for any position and apparently BA doesn't consider King that backup.

Scott adds experience, in particular slowing the play the ball and getting away with it.
And getting away with it comes with success and age/experience. Scott is a premiership winner and Origin rep, captain of his team and refs adjudicate differently when its him slowing the play the ball down compared to someone like a Mitch Allgood back in the day or a Windscreens O' Brien. Which is why having rep players in your squad brings more to your side than just the footballing ability they have.
