I assume he is asking for a release as he has another deal.

Stagger, are Eels a shot at Klemmer?

If I knew the answer to that one I wouldn't be silly enough to tell you... but I can you a funny story relating this involving a mate but I'll leave that for another day..

The problem is Souths have a player who thinks he's worth more than what he's currently on and Souths aren't willing to cough up but are probably willing to go pay big coin to 31 year old current origin and grand final winning spine player...
Not that i doubt you Stagger but could Souths really afford Maloney after recently signing Gagai and already having Inglis, S Burgess, Farah plus players like A Reynolds and Sutton. Apparently Alex Johnson also signed a decent deal last year.

I reckon Souths desperately need value players like Cody Walker.

Broncos are looking for a left centre...i dare say GI is at the top of their list.

I dare say Gagai hasn't gone to Souths to play centre either.

Is this an opportunity for the NRL under Greenberg to look at the books at the Dogs as it seems that Klemmer is insinuating that the TPAs were part of his contract ( could they be club guaranteed/sourced). Strange that when these issues at clubs other than ours surface, there's no media speculation or audit queries

So the usual suspects with TPAs that propel their salary cap up to $3 million in excess of the NRL designated figure will remain without question. Nothing to see here as usual, move along .

"Oh we couldn't audit the Dogs"

They might find the system that was set up by Todd and copied by his good friend Seaweed.

I dunno about the level to which the Dogs have over-committed, but with respect to the Klemmer thing....what is it that the Dogs are supposed to have done wrong? The problems for Klemmer seems to be that they are NOT guaranteeing the TPAs (as they are not allowed to unless they are part of the Marquee allowance). The NRL doesn't seem to have a problem with contract offers that state that the club will try to put the player in contact with potential TPA sponsors (i.e. like we did with Hoppa), and then leave it to the TP and player to chat, as long as the club doesn't negotiate that deal, and the deal isn't contingent on the player playing for the club, and the TP isn't a club sponsor.

There'd be no need for Greenberg to look at the books at the dogs. He probably orchestrated a few previous deals for them in the past. He knows exactly what goes on there. Let's not forget why Fifita didn't end up signing a contract there a few years ago, after he was accounced as agreeing to terms. Smdh

Not interested in a 750-800K (conservatively) Klemmer one bit. BA said in the presser Friday that it was the 3rd week our forwards had come up against a massive pack (Canberra, Rabbitohs, Warriors) and we got 'em. I don't see Klemmer's value at all. If we get Meehan and he lives up to his hype our forwards could be anything, without the bill.

On Staggers point, MUST lock up Guth and Brown, they are respective leaders of our team.

To illustrate that Eels fans are always happy to be seen, been in Hawaii for a week after 2 weeks in Canada doing the Rockies tour and Vancouver sights, when walking down the main beach front in WAikiki proudly wearing my Eels cap, when another fan passed the other way wearing the same 70th anniversary hat and we tipped our caps and smiled and said " great win last night"?

We may be a bit crazy but we are still Parra fans wherever we are :grinning::grinning:

TPAs are an unsolvable problem simply because the NRL can't work out a way to phase them out.

I mean how can you phase them out without disadvataging clubs with or without them ?
