How many of them were in the Souths system? The Roosters poach fewer from us than other clubs. They poach more from Souths.

But they still paid overs for Tupou and Matterson out of our stables. One of whom has played origin

Who cares where they poach them from. They've still had more success on the field than us in the last decade, which indicates their strategy is superior.

Also, I'm pretty sure none of that 13 I listed earlier have ever been involved with Souths either...but who cares if they were? They get results from their identification, recruitment, development and retention of their juniors than we ever do.

No one can provide any evidence that our identification, recruitment, development and retention of junior players is even remotely close to that of the Roosters.

You are comparing probably our worst decade with one of their best. Is it any wonder we come up short?

You are incorrectly associating a symptom with a cause to satisfy your sense of outrage....

It hasn't seemed to hurt the Roosters, Storm, Manly and Sharks in the last decade to start from a small junior base. You have no evidence to prove that teams with large junior bases will have success in the future.

Brisbane. End argument.

Given their junior base, how much success have they had in the last 10 years compared to the other 4 teams mentioned before?

In fact doesn't it reinforce the fact that big junior base is a hinderance given that Cronk, Thurston and Smith were never a look in at the Broncos.

I'm sure there is plenty of others.

Well they've made the finals more than the Roosters. And won fewer wooden spoons.

Or do you measure success differently?

Actually the Roosters have missed the 8 five times since 2007 so I guess you do measure success differently

If we want some success in keeping and developing the best ones (like the roosters do) we might have to.

Possibly.

But increased stability off the field will make us a more attractive option for juniors who want to stay. Ultimately, everything comes back to the front office.

I reckon everything comes down to money. I know a few kids who have gone to the roosters from a different system purely because they offered better deals - and these kids are only 15-16.

Well honestly at 15-16 every kid is a huge gamble...I would be against paying more than we do for any 16 year old unless they were doing the kinds of things Jarryd Hayne did at that age.

I agree it's a gamble (and I was shocked at the deals for these particular kids) but you can't deny the Roosters seem to do as good a job or better than most other clubs (particularly in Sydney) at identifying talent and bringing them through 20s and first grade and even origin! We really should be copying their system ... a system that works better than ours.

Lol. The catch-cry of a beaten El Diablo. You can't find it? Here, let me refresh your memory as to what I actually said

As you can see, we were talking about large junior bases. Which Brisbane undeniably have. Not once was Queensland mentioned, until you decided to randomly mash your keyboard and spit it incongruously into the conversation. Now, why don't you trot along and leave the discussion to people with a level of education higher than "dropped out to lick windows professionally halfway through year three"?
