As always you make some good points. I'll give you Hoffman. He is experienced and reliable. Gower I would have in the side (when fit) before Mannah. Mannah must be injured because he has been very ordinary.

I agree - a little disappointed with Mannah.

He's normally very good, but he's been down on form.

But I agree with everyone else - I'm so frustrated by this club. It's irritating.

But I honestly think we are doing the best we can with what we have.

I truly believe we are turning the corner.

Difference between Pauli and Paulo is that the latter knows his job first and foremost is to just run straight and hard, anything else comes later. With Pauli, I think he's caught between just running 100 mph at the line and making 15 metres every run or trying to turn his back for an offload a la Aaron Woods. The boy needs to understand his sheer size and the advantage that comes with that.

Mannah's biggest issue is that he's a good 4th to 6th middle forward in your Top 17. When he's considered in your Top 3 middle forwards then you're in trouble.

The discussion is about the need of a big junior base and how much success we get from it. The debate is about whether we are better off just bringing in guys at 16-18 years of age and paying them (like we did with french and co) rather than paying money for a huge junior base.

You do realise we can do both right? We haven't gotten success from either internal or external junior players because we changed head coaches every year and a half. That means a change in the selection process of the junior teams as to what the head coach wants. I don't think it's any coincidence that since we've had a head coach for more than 2 years that our 18's won their first grand final since 2007 and our 20's are playing consistently well this year.

I will cry with joy when BA taps Tims career on the shoulder.
Seriously cry like a baby with pure joy and ecstacy when i never have to see the merkin again on the park.
The blokes been holding this club back up front for a decade now.
In over 40 years of support, never has there been a player i disliked more than Tim Mannah, he makes me sick just watching him run out oin an eels jersey and has done for his entire career.
Hes like a terrible gang green infection that just hangs around for ever.
Wake up Brad you idiot before its too late for your career.

Well if we have the budget then great. I just got the impression max would be pretty tight with the $$. If we are competing with rooster and other clubs $$ in our junior reps then it's all good

Mannah's a solid first grader. He's contracted until he's almost 32. Will probably retire then, after he captains us to the 2019 premiership.

I think he's slipping down the depth chart (or at least where he would be in the depth chart for an average NRL club) though.

But I think our problem is largely one of balance in the forwards. We got rid of the big blokes (Paulo, Pauli, Lussick) and also lost Wicks to retirement.....and haven't replaced them with smaller players (with the exception of the butterfly).

The butterfly?
