Basically people who think Hayne can't play 6 have no idea...he essentially played in the halves in attack for us anyway. We have two fullback options in Gutherson and French. Neither of them are a fraction if the half that Hayne already is. If we sign Hayne, he plays 6.
Really? Well champ he was tried at 6 for us in the past a number of times and failed. Hard to argue with the facts. I guess we will see who of us is right and who is wrong next year if he comes back.

Agree, his last 2 years he played exactly the way that Morgan plays from the Cows does now. Only difference is that Hayne can run the ball like Morgan and pass the ball like JT.
And does not have the game temperament to play as consistently in the position as either of the players you named. I guess we will see if he comes back for 2017.

You've seen the side he had around him, it's pretty clear why we didn't perform....don't you think? Blaming Hayne for not succeeding at 6 in that side is like cutting off your f**king nose and then blaming the flower for having no scent

I think it comes down to whether Hayne WANTS to play 6 or not.

If he wants to, he can do it IMO.
I'll bet he'll want to play 6 in attack... but not be too keen at all to play 6 in defence.

We won't see the best of Hayne if we sign him as a 6, and if we sign him as a 1 we risk not signing an adequate 7 (or risk Hayne stifling/overcalling Norman in attack).

It's going to end in tears imo...

In what way is Hayne selfish in terms of on the field play?
Lack of involvement doing the basics that you need from a team player. Extremely slow play the balls when the team needed quick play the balls in attacking positons, as if to say, 'look at me'. Poor options in using support players and dying with the ball.
Not all the time, however these were fairly common in his game and you can't have those attributes no matter how gifted you are if you are going to play regular footy in the halves.

If Hayne wasn't to blame for his own poor performances at 6, why did the coach shift him fromvthat position, and conclude the experiment?

The guy is a great fullback (and winger). But that's about it - he's no Lockyer, especially after two years out of the game.

Plus spending the best part of 3 years basically not being able to play might have given him a change in attitude.

That does not mean he would be a good half and he has shown in the past he is not up to playing in those crucial positions. And yes he was a selfish style of player, brilliant talent but selfish and on occasion lazy.

So you keep saying...

Pretty much this.

Hayne touched the ball in our attack more than most halves do, sure some of that was from kick returns but it was mostly from being the only player in our team that could come up with something in attack and even get somewhat close to executing a play.

If you think Hayne died with the ball when a pass would have been better I'd hate to see what you think about Mick Gordon's attack. Is he a selfish player because he rarely ever passes the ball? Is Bevan French a selfish player because he more often than not declines a hit-up on kick returns? Is Jeff Robson a selfish player because he doesn't take the line on and the player he passes to is basically a sitting duck for the defence?

To parraphrase (lel) the High School principal from Billy Madison

"Mr. Parra47, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Pretty much shows you have the same lack of footy knowledge as him .

You're a non event, mate. Just another Hayne hater, but not even as intelligent as Phantom Bart. And that's saying something. You rate Fensom ffs

Hayne is a two time Dally M winning playmaker. No one needs any more proof that he would be a successful 6, because he already was. If you can't see that, then I'd suggest you're the one with a lack of footy knowledge. But, again, Fensom...

lol this is coming from someone who is championing the cause of a known Plodder like Fensom, I don't claim to be a footy guru but Baz has forgotten more about the game of RL then you will ever know.
