There is some News Ltd fake outrage this morning following an ATO ruling which surrounds elite sportsmerkins.

News Ltd are quoting Mick who got up at 5am. Mick is outraged that Buddy Franklin can now shift 10% of his gross income into a private trust and be taxed at 27.5%.

don't tell Mick about the opportunities available in the agricultural sector.

With all this Manly salary cap drama going on, I hope that they end up having to release a couple of players like we did. If that blessed thing happened, Api Koroisau and Shaun Lane would be my choices and brilliant pickups for us.

On Api, I mentioned on here some years ago now, when he was 18 yrs old and playing in the lower grades for Souths that we should poach him, seeing that they had Issac Luke at the time.

As usual, some of the blind imbecile talentless fools on here mocked and ridiculed as they so often blissfully do. Well look at him now. Probably the best dummy half in the league on current form.

So many of you on here have no freakin idea about spotting talent even if Johnathan Thurston bit you on the dick, which by the way, when he was playing for the Dogs I wanted him at Parra. But some here ragged me out that he was to small and couldn't tackle, just like some said about Api. I must admit though even I didn't think that Thurston was going to become the player and future immortal that he has turned to be.

Just because I have previously suggested players that have has issues with the law and proven to be bad news, doesn't mean they don't/didn't have talent. When I made that suggestion we were in a very different situation as a club. Also, if we had given out that lifeline, you don't know if that player would have gone in a different direction or not. As we know, to rehabilitate successfully a major part of that is you need to be surrounded by good influences at the very least, not cast adrift.

Anyway...end of rant.

P.s. Watch Lane peoples...he's a goody, if he can get his work rate up, which will take time.
You started posting on here in 2007 Rammy, by then he was an origin and Australian player and we had Finch. I doubt anyone would of knocked him back.

I don't know how if I can agree with that; if there is some dodgy dealings found at Manly (of a serious enough magnitude), and if the NRL turn a blind eye to it/let it blow over, then I can't see Parramatta or Melbourne lying down and taking it.

Why should Melbourne and Parramatta be punished, but Manly get away with a slap on the wrist?

This is of course all assuming that Manly are guilty, and that they have committed serious offences - but the NRL allowing it to blow over would open a serious legal can of worms.

Every team is rortimg the 3rd party tpas. Nrl know that.
Phil Gould basically admitted that all clubs are doing somthn suss.

accoding to search this is the first post Rammy made that mentions Thurston which was in July 2007 http://forums.leagueunlimited.com/posts/3578940/

Listen when was the last time you heard people talk about the lack of creativity in Lockyer's game, or for that matter Prince's, Cooper's or Thurston's? Exactly stop scratching your head...

That's my point almost every other week people keep drudging out excuses as to why he had a quiet game or why he did or didn't do x, y or z, and that next week will be different.

Yes any moron can tell you that next week will be different, by the obvious fact that it's an all-together different week. But what we all want to see though is a halfback who DOESN'T play so DIFFERENT every week, as to be non-existent some weeks, woeful the next and yet brilliant in others. Consistency is the key to success.

No team can challenge for a premiership when the one who is meant to steer you around is so inconsistent. Just like a sailing ship would find it very hard to come to shore with a rudder that is damaged and doesn’t respond each time the captain turns the wheel. Only blind luck or a favourable wind would get you home.

Barring good luck, maybe we should all put our lungs together and blow Timmy to success.

Oh yeah a lot of you here already do. :)

I always liked Lane to. But Dogs and warriors happily flicked him. And in a weak manly backrow he struggled to get a spot. A year older then TEPAI.
Id rather give Tepai another 12mths and see where he is at at 22. Abput age where muscle mass really develops.

Rammy's thoughts on Sandow

Are you kidding? The merkinness as you put it, is part of what makes him probably the most enjoyable player in the NRL to watch when it comes to characters on the field. I love the bloke.

I am still pinching myself that we are going to have both him and Hayne at Parra next year. If he shows the same sort of passion and playing ability on the field as he does for Souths(especially if he starts kissing our jersey, it may takes some time before he gets that sort of feeling for our team though) our fans will start to ooh and aah, then hyperventilate. I say again, are you kidding? We will love him!!!

and his thoughts on Thurston in 2009

I don't want Thurston here. Not unless he was willing to come for 300 thou or less, and had a total personality transformation into a decent human being.

Know one can spot talent perfectly.
I thought Tepai would be a devastating ball runner, instead he is a defensive belter.
Top 10 defensive backrower in comp.

Ive said before I like Falou but most on here dont rate. I hope he is given a chance.

Shaun Lane wont improve our team as we are not lacking in that area.We have Stone,Falou,Niakuore waiting in wings.

Managing a footy team is more about when to let your stars go and to replace with a cheaper junior on the rise. Losing a guy like Jnr Paulo for not paying overs is not going to hurt your long term success.
Our spine could be set for 6-7 yrs. And with moses,Bevan,Gutherson all 22ylds thats half the spine potentially for 10yrs. All are competetive, good attitudes and born winners. We are in good shape if keep these guys.

Forwards can come and go. Not like you need a new game plan or combos forma front rower. Storms long term sucess comes down to the saem 1,7,9 for 10yrs.

Wasn't this police investigation bc of the match fixing allegations? How do we know that the cash payments have more to do with match fixing rather than salary cap dodginess ?

I'm not sure.

What I heard on the radio the other day said it was due to the cap dramas - but then, MMM have been known to get things wrong, so...
