Rumours and Stuff

Time for a little light reading. Found this in my inbox not long ago.

“While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old Texas rancher, whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.

Eventually the topic got around to politics and then they discussed some new guy who was far too big for his shoes as a politician.

The old rancher said, ‘Well, ya know, he is a post turtle’. Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a ‘post turtle’ was.

The old rancher said, ‘When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a ‘post turtle’.

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain. ‘You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of a dumb arse put him up there in the first place.’ “

A picture of an actual post turtle.

Enjoy.

The Madge assistant coach could be a master signing. He is a premiership winning coach only recently and has been there and done it before. I think he was really hard done by with Souths.

For him, I have no doubt its a nice role for him to really enjoy without ultimately the pressure cooker of facing the board under pressure.

since when do NRL teams pay transfer fees ?

Think Souths paid one for Burgess.

And wasn't it the reason Segeyaro took a while to sign with the Sharks.

Could be other examples too.

Knights apparently got one for releasing Wardle this year.

If he can adjust to being just an assistant coach. I reckon it would be pretty difficult, actually.

David Furner seems to have adjusted OK, as has John Cartwright and Mick Potter. It's arguable that Gus has as well in many respects, throw Jason Taylor into the mix. Kearney was apparently pretty good for the Broncos too.

David has two more years with Rabbitohs,,and was Assistant coach with Tonga. He has settled well into Sydney,,his lovely wife Kellie is doing great things @ Men of League, and his oldest son, Kyle, is following in the footsteps of Donny *(Senior) and David ,,,,very very talented boxer.
Dave played with the new Souths coach at the Raiders, and he reckons he (Siebold) is a pretty smart bloke..

None of those guys won a premiership as coach and a few of them are absolute dog shit coaches. I'd be very happy if Madge got the assistant gig but it is a massive step down from someone who has had a fair bit of success.

All jokes about witch’s hats and water bottles aside, it’s a very important job these days, with a high level of responsibility. It pays six figures too. I reckon any coach would prefer being an assistant over unemployment.

True.

However, it's also a hell of a lot less stress; if the side fails or struggles, it's the head coach's head on the chopping block.
