Twal was very good also but clearly Mannah was the pack leader.I thought he was average, Alex Twai was exceptional and we let him go.

Why would he be on that much? Because of his perceived potential from seven years ago?I wonder how much Mannah is on. When he first came he was a young hot prospect. He even got selected for state of origin as a youngster but he never really kicked on. I know he bleeds blue n gold and he's our captain but I would rather Junior Paulo stayed in Mannahs place. I honestly couldn't see Mannah starting in any other squad. I bet he's on 500 plus when he's a 250 grand player.
Twal worked hard over long minutes. He's a very safe front rower, but not very effective in attack:I thought he was average, Alex Twai was exceptional and we let him go.
Trouble is that 5kg may dull his greatest asset, speed! Slater is so much better than most other fb because of his speed.I see what you're saying, and it makes a lot of sense.
But where French is actually quite brilliant is that he uses his brain - a few times this season, he made a great try-saving tackle on a much bigger player, and what he did was very clever.
Basically, he holds onto the ball carrier, and falls backward; all he has to do is make sure that he maintains a hold of the player's arms, and then cradle the ball, and he will hold up a player more often than not.
He could definitely stand to add some bulk to his frame, to help him return the ball with more power.
But he's developing quite nicely - he's lightning quick, and has a good brain to boot, too.
Add 5kgs to his frame, and he will be elite - no doubt in my mind.
I've heard well north of $600k but less than $700k which if true absolutely shocked me. Yes I'm with you $300k is the max he should be on.I wonder how much Mannah is on. Pou are you talking about 2017 stats because my perception is a lot different. Besides the multiple times he tackled with his head and went off to HIA he usually played 25 mins in first half and seemed to come back with 10 mins to go in second half.Twal worked hard over long minutes. He's a very safe front rower, but not very effective in attack:
Mannah
4 games
55 minutes per game
0.21 runs per minute
10.1 metres per run
0.63 tackles per minute
96% tackle effectiveness
Twal
4 games
69 minutes per game
0.23 runs per minute
8.4 metres per run
0.61 tackles per minute
97% tackle effectiveness
There are plenty of fullbacks as fast as Slater. Merkins underestimate his superior work rate as key to his success. He is always in support, on every single play. Have a look at Hayne - if he was the one tackled with the ball, or even just pushed up in support on the previous play, you can almost guarantee he won’t be involved on the next one.Trouble is that 5kg may dull his greatest asset, speed! Yes he is turning into a good defender and is forcing balls lose as well as stopping offloads. One can only hope Moses will be almost as good next year with more training under his belt. Already he has improved tremendously at Parra.
I’m talking about this World Cup. The four games played should’ve clued you in on that.Pou are you talking about 2017 stats because my perception is a lot different. Lol. Pretty weak clue Poo.I’m talking about this World Cup. The four games played should’ve clued you in on that.
As for his NRL form, he plays reduced minutes because that’s all we need from him. With six or seven players in our 17 taking minutes in the middle (and Brown playing 80) there is no need for long minutes from our other middle forwards. This allows Mannah to maintain such a high defensive work rate.
All part and parcel of being an Eels fan Stevie. We are conditioned by past events.I am sure I should just relax, but I am feeling very nervous about all the recent talk of players potentially leaving. If JH slots into the backline nicely without disruption than great.
I don't know why I am just worried though and really hope we don't go backwards from last year.
Its very exciting.Given we finished fourth there’s a good chance we’ll do worse next year, through no fault of any merkin. But finishing 5th-8th at least means we’re a decent chance of winning a finals match.
Hayne also is shocking at kick returns. He literally jogs back. He's also extremely slow at playing the ball. He could make a break and still play the ball slow. It all comes back to laziness. He relies to much on his natrual ability. He could be a slater. We have all seen glimpses of what he can do. He just needs to stop being so dam lazy. When he plays in the halves. It's shows it even more.. He doesn't run. He just passed and walks around. In 2009 his support play was amazing. But only 2009. Oh sand if Mannah is on 600 plus which I suspect he is. Then that is a joke. There are plenty of fullbacks as fast as Slater. Merkins underestimate his superior work rate as key to his success. He is always in support, on every single play.
