Reynolds has no running game and barely a passing game, he needs dominant forwards to offer much at all. He's looked very ordinary for Souths this year in an average pack. Plus he seems to be a walking injury ATM.

Not much available - Albert Kelly or Carney might be worth a shot.

Front rowers plenty out there- Id go for Vaughn - Matagi would be ok as well or the young guy from souths.

Id also look at the young Jennings boys. We need some back with skill. And cover for first grade.

After missing out on the prized signature of prodigal son Jarryd Hayne, Parramatta have another NSW Origin player in their sights.

South Sydney halfback Adam Reynolds isn’t off contract until the end of next season but it’s believed he is feeling unsettled at the Rabbitohs and could be tempted to look elsewhere.

Linking Reynolds with five-eighth Corey Norman would be a dream combination to help the Eels restore their fortunes in 2017.

Coach Brad Arthur yesterday said he was in the market for “a specialist halfback”, but declined to mention names. He did, however, rule out looking at Titans pair Ash Taylor and Tyrone Roberts, who are also off contract next year.

But Arthur has some money to play with now that two high-profile players have slipped through Parramatta’s fingers within 10 days. Kieran Foran requested, and was granted, a release from his four-year deal as he works through personal issues.

The Australian understands the Eels’ interest in Reynolds has strengthened now that Hayne’s future has been decided.

Arthur yesterday admitted his surprise at Wednesday’s announcement that Hayne, an Eel for nine years, had penned a two-year deal with Gold Coast, considering he had only spoken to the player 48 hours earlier.

Arthur said there had been no mention of any Titans offer.

“We just had a conversation ... We’ve had plenty of conversations. I thought he wanted to play at this club and we wanted him. But it’s not about what’s best for the club,” Arthur said yesterday.

“It’s about what’s best for Jarryd and I wish him well. The Titans are fortunate to pick up a player of Jarryd’s calibre.

“Every club would like to have Jarryd, but at what cost? I’m accountable to a playing group that is committed to this team.”

While the Titans were adamant they didn’t need to shed players to accommodate Hayne because a club sponsor had stepped in with a marquee player allowance, Arthur said he would have had to cut two or more from his roster to get Hayne.

“I’ve got four or five at the end of 2017 off contract and they’re important to me, important to this team and the club,” he said, referring to Manu Ma’u, Brad Takairangi, Tepai Moeroa and Peni Terepo.

“There was no way in the world I was going to risk losing those guys. We’re happy with this squad.

“Jarryd would have been handy for us, would have given this squad a bit more, but we move on.”

Titans chair Rebecca Frizelle apologised to Eels fans on Sydney radio Triple M yesterday.

“Look, I feel for Parramatta; I feel for their fans. I know Jarryd does too. It was just very fortunate timing for us the way things happened,” Frizelle said.

“It’s certainly not us trying to dance on anyone else’s misfortune. So I apologise.

“We just feel very proud and we’ll take very good care of him.”

The Eels did receive some good news yesterday.

As reported in The Australian on Wednesday, the NRL has deducted $250,000 from the original $1 million fine handed down to the club for being $3m over the salary cap over the past four years.

The club’s new interim three-man board, headed by administrator Max Donnelly, has met with the NRL and agreed to introduce some reforms over accountability.

“The suspension of $250,000 of the penalty is an important vote of confidence by the NRL in the club and its new direction,” Donnelly said.

It was also announced that the Eels had formally withdrawn their appeal against the NRL sanctions, thereby saving the club more money in legal fees. The appeal was lodged by the club’s previous board shortly before its resignation.

Arthur said fans had a lot to look forward to in 2017, even without Hayne.

“The roster we’ve got right now has put us in a position where we’ve been very competitive and won our fair share of games and that’s been without Jarryd for the last two years,” he said.

“I’m extremely happy with our roster moving forward.

“The players have been resilient. There’s been more than enough excuses to say it’s too hard … but they’re finding ways to win games of footy. They are not prepared to throw in the towel.”

Parramatta’s Semi Radradra still considering rugby union switch, according to his agent
August 4, 20167:00pm

PARRAMATTA cult hero Semi Radradra refuses to rule out exploring options outside the NRL, including rugby union, as he closes in on an early return from injury.

That’s the message from Radradra’s agent, George Christodoulou, who told The Daily Telegraph the winger would assess all playing possibilities beyond this season despite being contracted at the Eels until the end of 2017.

However, Christodoulou stressed his first priority was dealing with domestic violence charges hanging over the star Eel’s head.

The Fijian flyer has pleaded not-guilty to allegations he assaulted his former partner on a number of occasions in 2014 and 2015.

Depending on the outcome of the case, Radradra faces heavy sanctioning from the NRL and possible bans.

“We will assess playing future post court case, but our only focus is returning from injury and getting through the court case,” Christodoulou said.

Asked if rugby was an option, he said: “Don’t know. I’m not looking at any options now, because we’ve got a court case to prepare for and get through.”

On a positive note, Radradra is in line for a shock Eels return from injury as early as next week to press his claims for Australia’s Four Nations campaign.

Radradra was not scheduled to be back for three weeks — if at all — after suffering a knee injury against the Sydney Roosters last month.

He had been pencilled in to return from a medial strain in the penultimate round of the season, however could be back to face the Broncos in Brisbane next week, according to coach Brad Arthur.

Arthur scotched rumours Radradra would make a shock appearance against Manly at Pirtek Stadium on Friday, saying: “Maybe next week”.

Had Radradra returned in round 25, it would left him short of a gallop heading into the Four Nations in England considering Parramatta are set to miss the finals.

Radradra made his first appearance for the Kangaroos in the midyear Test following his controversial defection from Fiji.

Meanwhile, as revealed in The Sunday Telegraph, Parramatta have formally withdrawn their appeal against sanctions imposed by the NRL for salary-cap breaches.

The appeal was lodged by the Eels’ previous board shortly before their resignation.

The withdrawal follows a review of the NRL’s decision by the club’s newly appointed interim board, including legal advice from independent lawyers appointed to consider the merits of challenging the sanctions.

Eels chairman Max Donnelly said yesterday that after reviewing the independent legal advice, it was clear the appeal was only focused on mitigating certain aspects of the punishments.

“Based on my review, I believe the appeal had no chance of success and should be withdrawn.”

Donnelly also announced that, following discussions between the new board and the NRL, $250,000 of the $1 million fine would be suspended for two years pending governance reforms at the club.

While the Titans were adamant they didn’t need to shed players to accommodate Hayne because a club sponsor had stepped in with a marquee player allowance,

How is that allowed?
And if so, how could we possibly not have a slot free

My realistic hit list would now be:

Jackson Hastings (now)
Mitchell Moses (2018)
Kane Elgey (2018)
Ash Taylor (2018)
Adam Reynolds(2018)
Josh Reynolds (2018)

So the article above indicated that BA said he wasn't interested in any of the Titans halves. Obviously in reference to a response to a question at the media conference

I think we need to find someone to play 7 that is going to be able to cope with the pressure of being the number 7 at Parra.

I also don't care when players are off contract, if we want a bloke next year who is signed until 2020 and he wants to come next season I'm sure we will get it sorted.
