“Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are disappointed to lose the services of back-rower Shaun Lane at the end of this season.

Shaun has made the decision to leave the Club to take up an opportunity elsewhere.

The Club believes it made a more than competitive offer for Shaun's services for the next three years.

Shaun came to the Club in 2017 looking to resurrect his NRL career after playing in the NSW Cup competition for the New Zealand Warriors. He has since secured a regular position in the starting team with the Sea Eagles.”

Interesting statement
Surely we payed no more than 200k for this bloke???

I thought we didn’t pay overs anymore???

someone from Manly makes a vague statement and it's open season once again

i have no idea what he would be on (much like everyone else) .... but would say 300k is probably average salary for a fringe top 17 player these days .... i wouldnt be surprised to see him play a fair bit of nrl - even if you don't see him in our top 17, there will be a f**k load of opportunity to play nrl with injuries etc

Shaun Lane is a $105k 2019 minimum wage player at best... A cent more than that is overs.

He offers as much as a 35 year old David Gower, who I suggest is worth $105k if he wants another season.

Someone mentioned 350k somewhere but I feel that is bullshit.
I think he is worth 200-250k due to age an upside

$300k is mean salary for all top 30 players ($9M divided by 30) but median would be less, probably less than $200k.

It was reported that Lane is on $400k mate.

How easy is it for Manly to say that that offered a more than competitive offer just to make us look like fools. They aren't likely to be doing us any favours by saying, yeah, they got him cheap cause he hates the Northern Beaches traffic. Manly might have told him to f**k off for all we know.
