I doubt the Storm have many players outside of their Top 17 on minimum wage. Id imagine Slade.Griffin, who was player 17 last season was on little more than minimum wage. The same goes for Brandon Smith this year. It doesn't seem to affect them.
Fair point, and here are the 18th-20th most appearances for the Storm last year:
13 Blair
13 Scott
12 Jacks
Blair re-signed while he was starting at centre in late 2016. He would be on about double the minimum salary. There were a dozen clubs vying to poach Scott from the Sharks in 2015, and I doubt he would have taken much less than the highest offer. He had only played half a season of NYC at that point (aged 18) but the demand was there. With a dozen clubs after him he could've been on $200k. He was good enough to make his NRL debut in round two the next year.
I agree Ryley Jacks would have been on minimum salary.
I'd be suprised if Kenny Bromwich is on much more thab half what we're paying Evans.
How much would a club need to pay him to leave his brother and all his mates and the city in which he has lived for his entire adult life? Comparing us with the Storm is apples and oranges. A better comparison would be another Sydney club. Melbourne (and Brisbane and the Cowboys) all have massive retention advantages above and beyond the recruitment advantages they have from TPAs.
