a convenient scapegoat lol

he's the f**king coach of this rabble
Yes.

A convenient f**ken scapegoat because people are stupid to realise that not everything that happens is entirely his fault.

He has to accept the overall outcome but there are plenty of other f**kwits who aren’t performing.

If you don’t think every team’s goal at the start of a season is to at least make the 8 your living in a dreamworld.'

If you think that's anything like what I just said, so are you.

Of course it's the goal. But realistically there are years when it's just not a feasible measure of success. Do you reckon it was a realistic goal for a rookie coach, straight off a spoon, with a busted squad?

Do you reckon Nathan Brown went to Newcastle with the realistic goal of making the 8 first up?

Sticky did us a monumental favour with that overhead projector and signed Norman, Peats and Hoppa to play alongside players such as Tonga, Hayne and Mau.

Yeah he definitely did us a favour by telling blokes they weren't wanted, then leaving before half of them did and sticking us with the baggage. And he really did us a monumental favour by sacking blokes that were on contract so that we were paying them to play elsewhere, on top of others we were paying to play elsewhere thanks to previous poor decisions, and needed to cheat to make up for it. That really helped us out of the hole.

No doubt he was right on all of them, but it was unbelievably reckless and short-sighted to handle it the way he did, and then incredibly pointless anyway given he walked out.

BA’s results since he has been here have been:
2014 - 10th
2015 - 12th
2016 - 14th
2017 - 4th
2018 - Currently 16th

Any year a team doesn’t make the 8 is considered a failure in my opinion so I’d say the first two years were a failure, he gets a reprieve for 2016, 2017 was good and 2018 is diabolical.

He’s had 3 failed seasons, 1 successful season and a write off year. I’m not convinced he will be a long term successful first grade coach.
And did we have a team good enough to make the eight in 2014, considering they had just come off two wooden spoons? The 2015 team lost its best player so why would you expect them to go any better? It wasn’t until 2016 that Arthur got the team he wanted and that was torn apart by the cap scandal. Last year was a step backwards (but we still snuck into the top four) and only this year has it all gone wrong.

The question now is if 2018 is Arthur’s fault or is it his problem to fix. None of us here know the answer, but hopefully the current review will find it. And just because they make a decision to keep or sack the coach doesn’t mean they got it right. We will never know.

If we sack the coach but go worse in 2019 it won’t mean that we would’ve gone better if we kept him. Likewise if we keep the coach and make the eight in 2019 it won’t mean we wouldn’t have gone better with a different coach. We will never know. If you want to claim to be logical you need to understand these concepts.

Hopoate was signed in 2011.

You seriously think th 2014 team (one which was over the cap) wasn’t good enough to make the finals? That team had Hayne, Radradra, Tonga, Hopoate, Norman, Sandow, Peats, Paulo, Mannah, Gower, Edwards, Mau’u. More than enough quality to make the 8 that year.

how in f**ks name could we go worse
That’s what they said after Kearney left. But we won five games in 2013, and our for-and-against was even worse.

However many games we win this year we could win fewer next year.
we need to get a new coach asap before it's too late for them to recruit some players
Recruiting for next year has been good. The problem is a couple of blokes currently contracted to the club. Sacking the coach doesn’t fix that.

But.
If a new coach is appointed should not he be afforded similar opportunities to get the team he wants? Are this rabble currently representing our great club any better than the R Stuart team?
Its a never ending arguement Poo. There are always reasons why and why not. This team is BAs team. He chose it. Trains it. Coaches it and is responsible for it. Do we hope he can turn things around or cut our losses. Why are the Burgess Bros better this year than last? They are the same players. Whats changed. Change is not always bad.
