even a pink Flamingo?
His stats were better when we signed him.Who said it is below market? Looking at his stats anything above minimum pay is paying more than his worth.
Maybe we are learning, finally.
Hasler won two premierships as a player and two as a coach. I'm sure he knew what was important as a player. Obviously as fans we prefer to watch players like Mason than players like Tolman, but the game goes for 80 minutes and requires sustained effort from a subset of players for each of those minutes. Tolman obviously provides more across the 80 minutes than does someone like Mason, however Mason provides his own important contribution. As is so often the case, posters here like you, Pou and Gutful, have missed the point due to bias but always preach on about how they are level headed and reasonable and that the critics on here are the bias, agenda driven muppets.
The point isn't Willie giving himself a massive rap as he is known to do, but how Des rated Tolman the best prop in the game over the Burgii boys and the like. Hell he isn't even the best prop in his team.
Except Hasler does have a feel for the game. He didn't just sign Tolman. He also signed George Rose and Tony Williams (twice), kept re-signing Sam Kasiano, brought Klemmer into first grade, and as you've shared, he approached Willie Mason to play for him.Again, way to miss the point. No one is saying that he doesn't know what is required to build an NRL team.
But as Willie and others have suggested, he went to far into valuing stats as apposed to having a feel for the players and game overall. There is a reason no other team is looking at him to coach that goes beyond salary cap issues. Salary cap issues are easily controlled. You make sure you have a Football Manager in charge of all that including recruitment and salary control.
Hopefully he stays with us a bit cheaper due to the lure of winning a premiership.Even that might be a little high for our needs. I think $120k would be fair but he could probably command close to $150k at another NRL club or more in the superleague.
All his extended family live in western Sydney, but he will still take less to play in the UK.
I think you missed my point Ram which is ironic. As is so often the case, posters here like you, Pou and Gutful, have missed the point due to bias but always preach on about how they are level headed and reasonable and that the critics on here are the bias, agenda driven muppets.

I wouldn’t swap the Timmynator for him, but Tolman is still a handy first grader.Tolman is average
A poor mans Mannah
How have you managed to link his preference for high workrate (lower cost) players to any salary cap issues? If he went for the flashier (more expensive) players you are saying he should have favoured he'd have left his club in even deeper salary cap shit.Again, way to miss the point. No one is saying that he doesn't know what is required to build an NRL team.

Nailed it OMC.Dumb question, but whereabouts in the article Ram posted is Hasler quoted as saying Tolman is the best prop in the game?
I read Willie's opinion that stats are crap and his slur on Des by accusing Des of thinking Tolman is the best prop in the game. But I didn't see any evidence to suggest anything other than that was Willie's opinion.
Most likely (given the tenor of the article) an opinion based on bitterness that Des wanted him to get his work rate up, and find his gut more often when tackled.
Let's be fair, Mason was quite limited in his effectiveness during his latter years. Seems he didn't want anyone telling him what to do?

...and the proximity from the new stadium to a maccas and KFC.Hopefully he stays with us a bit cheaper due to the lure of winning a premiership.
