Tolman is a bloody good player, yes boring but every side needs a worker like him in the middle, he does the little things the coach rates but fans don’t.

Let’s not forget the sharks wanted him this year before the dogs I think decided not to release him.

Additionally while stats don’t show the full story they have pretty impressive per game:

2017 - 117 m 37 tackles
2016 - 134m 36 tackles
2015 - 153m 37 tackles

I suspect he plays longer minutes then the average middle forward so his stats wouId look better but it’s also the reason he wouId play longer minutes, he isn’t a liability especially in defence. Also having him in the side let’s you play the big lazy forwards.

Prob would handle it. But i think too soon. I know some of the coaching staff were contemplating putting Stefano on ice after the SG Ball season since missing the previous 2 years with 2 shoulder reconstructions as they were worried of doing to much to soon.. Although his SG Ball season was pretty poor he has now flourished since playing Nsw u18s origin and Nyc this year.
Maybe its taken him a while to get his groove back along with his confidence and timing.
Personally id wait till next year, I herd his doing Nrl preseason so see how he handles that.

On another great note, I herd Stefano Utoikamanu Brother Filia Utoikamanu is not far from returning. Waiting to see specialist to receive the go ahead.
Filia was touted to possibly play Nrl sometime this year until he fractured his neck in last years u18s origin game. Special talent and plays back row
Now I have to say up front I've not seen most of these players play so only go on what other 'experts' say. Next year I'd give top 30 spots to Kaufusi, Dresler, Faingaa and any other promising junior with most on min pay. Give them an offseason training with the NRL squad and see how they go. Throw them into first grade once injuries hit. Some will make it, some won't and some won't mature until a few years later. Persist with them for 2 years and then cull those not performing. That way there'll be no criticism that we lost promising juniors or didn't give them a chance. Would be a better and cheaper option than signing nuffies for more than min that end up playing for Wenty.

Toleman was a good player. As you can see his stats progressively went down after the age of 27 - 28. Seemed he peaked pretty early, but if you look at the other prop forwards, its usually a downhill slope after 28. Mannah is a good example

Except Hasler does have a feel for the game. He didn't just sign Tolman. He also signed George Rose and Tony Williams (twice), kept re-signing Sam Kasiano, brought Klemmer into first grade, and as you've shared, he approached Willie Mason to play for him.

But he also knew that players like Tolman, Graham and Aaron Woods are needed to do the dirty work. What coaches and players refer to as the one percenters that dopey fans like yourself don't notice.

He also tried to manufacture halves out of countless players, the last of which was Moses Mbye, of who isn't/wasn't a halves arsehole and turned his pack into pass happy wannabe halves to compensate.

He was doing some pretty strange and weird shit by the time he was given the boot. He was losing all perspective, hence why no other team has given him a gig since his sacking. Is he still up to it? Who the "F" knows, but so far no one seems to be willing to give him a go.

Hey, ponder this mother f**ker, with such a stellar record and credentials, why haven't the Broncos rushed in to sign him in lieu of searching high and low for a replacement for the old coot, coach happy?

How have you managed to link his preference for high workrate (lower cost) players to any salary cap issues? If he went for the flashier (more expensive) players you are saying he should have favoured he'd have left his club in even deeper salary cap shit.

Use your noggin Ram.

Oh my, talk about muddying the waters. Talk about obfuscate and bamboozle. Talk about just out right crap. I believe you need to use that noggin of yours and stop twisting everything just to seem intelligent. You're sounding more and more like Pou, just less of a talker.

Typical response from you as usual, turn it back on the poster crap. Hardly clever or convincing.

Hasler’s reputation is f**ked. Players don’t want to play for him because he’s an egg head. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand the game. He missed the finals twice in about 14 years ffs

Well that did get the dogs to the GF twice.......

What has that got to do with firstly, Hasler rating Tolman as the best prop in the game, as suggested by Mason, and secondly Des losing the plot down the line. Anyone in a position to hire him and in need of a quality coach has so far over looked his more then impressive resume.

Also Mason isn't the only pundit that has made negative comments about Des's coaching and over the top idea's and thoughts on the game. Sometimes even great ones, over think things and can lose the plot. This seems to be what has happened here.
