So often Ram comes on here with a poorly thought about theory about something which he expects everyone to accept unchallenged. It usually gets delivered with a level of arrogance that isn’t commensurate with the quality of the theory as well which doesn’t help his cause. Then when people inevitably start pointing out flaws he gets all bitchy and personal. I think he'd be better conversing with sycophants like Hindy111.

I solved that problem ages ago.

I reckon Hasler is a bit eccentric and there is no f**ken way I wouId leave him in charge of managing the cap, however he is probably the best current option available if BA was to leave - McGuire didn’t change much after winning the comp, issues seem to follow Henry, Taylor will never coach again, Bennett is a pensioner ....

Hasler in my opinion is the best option Mainly because he has shown to be successful across two clubs and he has developed game plans based on the players he had available. At manly he had a few half combos but still won comps and he did put in place a pretty good game plan with the dogs based on the players he had.

He also seems to get his sides to be strong defensively - even at the dogs in the last year when they weren’t traveling great they still stayed in the battle.

Also not many players if any, have bagged him so he seems to be a good man manager!

But he wouId need a footy manager who was in charge of managing cap, yeah Hasler can say who we should recruit but the manager would advise what we can afford. He wouId also need to commit to junior development.

You guys are all idiots.
Rammy is the savant around here. Des Hasler was a terrible coach.....

He took a 13th placed Manly side to 7 straight finals appearances, (2 titles and they were cheated out of another one)
He then immediately took a 9 win Bulldogs team to the finals 5 straight times, including 2 grand finals.

That's 12 straight years of finals footy, which included 2 premierships, another that SHOULD have been a premiership, and 2 grand finals.

I'd take 5 from 12 grand final appearances any day of the week.

Now it's possible his methods of managing the cap mean he has limited effectiveness as a long term coach, and that clubs might be scared off by that? But to deny he is an excellent thinker about the game is farcical.

That is an opinion, yours, but doesn't go close to proving anything about this issue as usual. I'll tell you what, show me where anyone currently has stated that Hasler is worth signing because he is STILL a great coach and players will respect and respond to him.

If you or anyone else has evidence of this, I'll stand corrected. Play the issue, not the man Guts, or is that too hard?

Who ever said that he wasn't a great coach? I am only referring to his current state of mind and that he seems, and others have in the media the same, that he over thinks things at times to his own determent.

Ill do you a deal. I'll stop playing the man when you do.

I already commented on the issue but you didn't address my comment. You know why you didn't? Because you were too busy playing the man!

If you want to have a genuine conversation then try addressing people's comments when they raise them.

But can't you see that the evidence you are using to support your argument are things that happened during his storied coaching career??

You're using evidence at odds with the point you're attempting to make, which might just be why everyone is piling on?? [for what it's worth, you do this quite often!]

Mason didn't have a conversation with Hasler last week. He spoke to him when he still was a coach.

Either way, Mason isn't reliable. I doubt he even understood what Hasler was saying (which reading between the lines sounds like he was trying give Mason the hint that he doesn't sign people who play like slugs).
