Anyone notice since Niakuore has come in Tepai has gained some pump. A little more grunt.
This is what happens when promote young ghys in a club. The buck just above wants to prove he is still the alpha and away he goes.
Seeing an old Lion come in doesnt pose a threat to the younger Buck like Tepai.

Some young fresh blood and the older guys feed of their energy and also want to prove there not done yet. Up a gear they go. Observe BA

I'm trying to like this post but at the end of the day these guys are earning dollars that the average punter can only dream of. I'd sure as hell I'd be motivated to do my absolute best if I was on that coin.
I don’t buy the whole theory that these blokes earn money the average punter can only dream of, firstly it’s only some that earn the big bucks, they are heavily scrutinized, risk big injury week in and out and have a short window to earn said big bucks before fading to obscurity after retirement (for most)
In saying all that I agree that motivation should never be a factor in putting in massive effort for the mighty eels

For someone who would be a labourer of some description if not for league,
$150 000 or upwards of it, is huge coin.

Players play for dollars these days. Loyalty still exists but is a dying emotion. It's now all cut throat.....guns for hire.

Maybe it’s because we don’t have our main attacking edge players in Manu / Edwards / t-rex so we are using Moeroa more............going to his side more often in set players......

Side note.
If we added Paulo (prop), Lane (back row), Ferguson (wing), Oates (back row) would you be happy?
Have I missed any rumors?
Personally I’d really hope we can get a hooker.

Id rather we just blood some jnrs tbh and not make anymore signings.
Unless Oates on wing and get rid of Bevan.

Do you think there will actually be any benefit to this team going forward for 2019 and beyond if we ran 13th, 14th or 15th instead of running 16th?
The benefit would be in the extra wins giving players and fans some confidence for next year.
I actually think we will get more out of running last. At the least it will reinforce to the club that we need real improvement in the playing squad.
How would coming last make any difference if you just said there is no difference between 13th and 16th?

Our biggest issue is that some of these players you talk about shouldn't be here and the club needs to wake up and realise this.

Something has got to give...if we keep doing the same thing next year, you can't expect results to change.
Why not? We did the same thing last year and made the top four. Why can't we do it again next year?

I'm certain they're all doing their best. Very few NRL players are physically gifted enough to become NRL players if they aren't self motivated.

Our problems at the moment aren't about effort. They are about the players lacking trust in each other and lacking confidence in themselves.

Many reasons I would imagine, which I won't rehash here as they've been indicated all season.

Past performance is not always an indicator for future success.
So doing the same thing isn’t as big a problem as you claim?

Do you think it’s possible for the club to throw the baby out with the bath water in attempting to improve next year? Do you genuinely believe that any change at all will lead to improvement?

I believe that making some further good recruitment and retention decisions will improve the teams chances in 2019. Whether we win the next 5 games or lose the next 5 games will have little to no bearing on how the team will go next season.
