Rumours and Stuff

Yeah like I said, which of our big palookas is playing well? Our 2 heaviest is are fringe first graders and plays half the season in reserves. Mannah is playing well as long as he doesn't start and you limit his game time. Hardly a pack of fearsome weapons. And comparing them to the storms big boys is absolutely laughable.

As for Finucane being only 102kg, maybe when he was 20yrs, but take a good look at him mate, he is big and all solid mass.

The point is teams like the storm are big angry and ruthless. But the big part is essential if you want to be able to bully and intimidate the opposition in the play the ball. Ask C. Smith what he told his coach after what he thought was a failed season 2015 campaign.

But your original point was that our forwards aren't big enough. No matter what size they are, if they aren't good enough or aren't playing well enough we are going to be in trouble

Our smaller forwards are busted after 2 to 3 years of wrestling with bigger badder gorillas. It takes a toll on you to keep up that intensity week in week out, especially when half of them are not more then fringe first graders.

Which of our smaller forwards are 'busted'?

As it stands, Norman knows he's unwanted at Parramatta. He's been tapped on the shoulder that hard he may need a reconstruction to repair it.

"That's what happens when you're sitting last on the table," he told NRL.com.

"It's well known they don't want me here and that's just part of rugby league. If you can't handle it you shouldn't be in it. Sometimes you just have to man up and move on."

Well when Norman goes, there goes season 2019 too.

Sorry but BA is the cancer eating Parra from the inside out. Beven should be a fullback in the Dufty mould and Norman should be up with the best. BAs tactics and small forward pack are the root of the problem yet everyone else is blamed. He'll rid the club of all its good players and have us rooted to the bottom for years with his incompetence.

You watch, both Norman and French will star in other clubs which will show how poor BA is as a coach!

There are forwards at every club the same size as ours. They are coping just fine, even after a couple of years.
Yes but their packs aren't full of them like we are. You need the big boppers to set the platform and BA doesn't even know what a platform is.

Storm's scale to weigh their forwards must stop at 115kg. If NAS is not 125-130kg I'm a bad judge of a person's weight. And their other forwards are bigger than listed, you just have to compare them with other large forwards from other clubs and they are definitely the same size or larger.

No club is going to do us a favour by taking him anywhere near full freight, particularly when it's common knowledge that BA wants him gone.
Lets hope the club has some balls and puts a stop to this rubbish, firstly getting rid of him and secondly paying top freight. Both absolutely stupid moves. Get rid of the cancer that is BA!

IIRC Norman was in top form when he was re-signed and was mooted for QLD origin. Tell me again how it was a stupid move to extend his contract for 2 years until 2019 after the season he had in 2016 ?

The Storm’s forwards are tall and lean. Bromwich is great because of his footwork and endurance, not because of his size. NAS might make a great run or two in a game but his overall contribution is limited, much like Junior Paulo.

Obviously a player like this would improve our attack (hence why we’ve signed Paulo) but the Storm are great because they have expensive, high quality players across the park. Stick NAS in our current team and I doubt we would’ve won more than an extra game this year. With all the possession counts we’ve lost he wouldn’t have had enough opportunity to make a difference.

Yes, there probably is more important reasons but it doesn't mean this isn't one of the reasons. Last year when we moved to playing tunnel ball I think that was one of the reasons for our success. And the speed of the play the ball is something many of us have been complaining about for the last decade.
I said at the beginning of the year and I'll state it now, Semi is a major reason for our lack of success this year. He scored 20 tries a season, factor that in with our poor tactics and not kicking for goal from a penalty, and we've already failed to win 10-12 games. Welcome to the wooden spoon.

I agree with you on NAS, yet reports persist that BA wants him. Imo he won't improve our pack by much but we do need at least one but preferably two more big quality middle forwards to help Paulo. I believe that a forward can be too big to his and the teams detriment and around 120kg seems about the cut off point.

We are going over old ground here, but we were unable to move on Semi until his innocence was proven. It is easy to be wise in hindsight, but no team would have re-signed him in that scenario. He was charged with kicking a pregnant woman in the guts FFS.

I took it that you were claiming that paying him $900k was a dumb move.

If your sentence was directed at paying high subsidies just to get rid of him, then sorry I misunderstood.

Just on the 900k for Corey, when he resigned he was pretty friendless IIRC. There was talk around then that we got him at a bargain price (considering his good form pre suspension). All of a sudden we're supposedly up for nearly a million 2 years later. I smell a newspaper journo shaped rat.
