Rumours and Stuff

I mentioned Lachlan Lewis a couple of weeks ago when I first saw him play and that he very much impressed me and was one to watch. Well after watching him in just 3 games now, I will say that this guys will be a champion and a rep player. I know sample size is still small, but there are some players that just stand out.

He is everywhere on the field, he has a kicking game, he runs direct, he is big for a half, and he is a demon defender. Sure he has still many things to learn at NRL level, but he will.

I know that this will never happen, because we aren't ever this smart and I know that he is on the verge of re-signing with the Dogs, but if I were in charge of recruitment, I would make a very late bid that he would find very hard to refuse($350-450k). If there was ever a time that we could pull off what the Dogs did to Wests all those years ago with T. Lamb, it is now while they are vulnerable with their salary cap issues.

I know that we have a couple of juniors coming through, but we will be very lucky if just one of our halves makes it and my money at this stage is on Dylan Brown. But as we know so many of our players are legends in the juniors and chumps in the NRL. So if BA is so keen on pissing off Norman and even rumours of Moses being on the outer, then this guy is a standout replacement and already at NRL standard.

We have to be very smart right now with the most important position on the field. This guy is very much like the Gutho of last year, in the way he is always ready and involved in the play, but skilful. As the commentators have said during the calls, he seems to have so much time, just like his famous uncle. They would not have won against the Broncos without his involvement.

Boy I wish we were as bold and smart as I wish we were. No doubt he will sign with the dogs on a very modest salary now and in a couple of years, it will be impossible to ever out bid them. Anyway...

no doubt if we don't now sign him, despite him already saying he wants to take less to remain at the dogs and there being 14 other nrl teams probably just as keen to have a crack, then it just means we are useless deadshits with no idea

I'm going to stick my neck out - Dylan Brown will be better than Lewis.

He is honestly that good, imo.

Lewis has played 6 games for only 1 TA and 1 LBA which isn’t that great but he does like to run averaging 60 or so metres a game with 1 TB per game.

He is also 22 and only 2 years younger then Moses

He is very enthusiastic and always gets involved. He’ll need to add a few tricks to his game if he’s to become a rep player IMO

Does that mean when (if) he reaches 100 games as Moses has just done, he will be at least 2 years older than Moses was?

I didn't say we are useless deadshits if we don't sign him. My statements when I bag our club are from frustration at being perennial losers though.

We were a club of useless deadshits only a few seasons ago under all those other administrations. This lot just haven't been, so far, as successful as I or many would have liked. So when I make wish list type of statements, it is because we have been and are still so bad at getting it right in the recruitment side of things and ultimately on the field. So I look at possible players that are available that have the ability and composure to lead this club to become successful again with the right leadership and culture that at present we don't have and have had missing for a very long time.

So pull you head out of Pou's arse and piss off you ne'er-do-well wanker.

This is a signing that really excites me - so much upside, not much risk.
That’s a nice package, makes you wonder why those other outside backs have been ahead of him for Penrith this year.
With he and Fergo as wingers next year, perhaps French has the support that’ll see him recapture form at fullback

I hope you're right, but that is at least 2 or 3 years away I think. He is on the smaller side so it will take him a little longer to handle the intensity of NRL. In the mean time, what do we do, put all our eggs in his basket and hope he can cut it down the road, but what of the next couple of years?

I for one hope that both Norman and Moses stay for at least 2019 so as we can see what they are capable of with some decent forwards, that's presuming we get some for next year that is.

Speaking of Damian Cook, he actually got the chocolates over C. Smith last night. What a performance. The speed of that guy out of dummy half. Nothing else like it.

What about those big rumbling Burgess boys. Steam rolled them. Imagine a wildmman like George leading our front row

Like I said coaches will take him more serious in 2019 or 2020. All ypung halves and fans get excited.
Best young half performance I saw was Jermoe Luai. But a one off. Will never have it thast easy again.

Tim Smith looked like he was going to be Wally Lewis, Andrew Johns and Ricky Stuart in the one package after his rookie season.... And did more in probably only a half of footy the Lewis has so far and did it for a whole season... We know how that turned out.

Not saying Lewis will not have a long and successful career, but after 3 games, it's a fair bow to draw....

Ah don't tease me like that Hindy, we are light years away from ever having a monstrous big mobile pack like theirs.

Love to see the Burgi boys join our Bones on Bones Secret Society Club.

Smith had mental issues, hardly a fare comparison. If he didn't have those issues, who knows how far he might have gone?

As for Lewis, of course anything could happen, but I feel this guy is in line to have a long and stellar career. He is a great defender and big. They have been running at him in all 3 games that I have seen of him and it hasn't gone the way they expected. He has nailed them in defense. Look at how he came out on top against Tevita Ponga Junior. That is a great sign in a half. His side of the field has turned out to be a mini fortress since his arrival.

If he's as good as you think he is then there will be interest from other clubs than just his own. That will push his price up.
