I've never been more pessimistic about a season than this one. Don't get me wrong I love this team and hope they surprise me but I can't see it happening. We have gaping holes in our entire squad. As a mate of mine recently said we will start off quite spirited but be pulverised by seasons end.

If we come last again, I don't care if every player except Gutherson and Nathan Brown leave.

I can see the season going two ways. Like you described but also they could come good and surprise us all and nudge the 8. I think a couple of things will determine the end result. One Moses and can he deliver a full good consistent season? If he does, then the hard work and toil of the forwards will count for something and create more confidence and enthusiasm that the whole team will feed off which will then create a "we can win games" attitude no matter who they are playing or what the circumstance.

Unfortunately no matter what he says out loud and to the press, I always feel it doesn't really matter, his form still ends up being yoyo like. But if he does have a big season, big if, then D. Brown in particular will also get to grow into the NRL without being hammered and pressured into trying to hard and over playing his hand to try and get a shit team to fire and all the other players will put in more of the little things knowing that it won't be for nought.

The way I see it, we have a good enough team to actually make the 8, as long as Moses can have a great season.

And, which brings me to my second point, injuries. Long injuries to Moses or a couple of our bigger forwards will also derail our season. So lets see what happens. It's very exciting.

3 yrs Griffin coached Panthers. Made finals 3 times. One play off games every year.

Id prefer that then wooden spoons.

Season depends on forwards. Sure the halves must play well but if forwards can steam roll others they will have more space and time to execute.

Best our packs produced isnt to dominate other teams pack but to hold there own or break even. Most times opposition packs beat ours. When we are able to match them we become a 50/50 chance of winning against most sides.
If our pack starts to dominate sides the way South's does we will be closer to 70% chance of winning the game.

Do we have the forwards?

I dont mind the look of the pack.
Alvaro has bulked up
Jnr goals should be origin
Tepai and Lane certainly have size and potential to become origin level.
Manu and Brown will never be origin level but capable of just below.
Terepo,Mannah always do a solid job.
Kafusi,Marata,Stefano are an unkown quantity. Imabine these 3 come in strong. It would transform our pack.


I like big players. So Ferguson, Taka in the backline adds to this. The jennings boys and Gutherson are not small. Brown is solid for a half. Moses becomes the only weakness physically.

Simple error free football, straight and hard with a good kick chase and just grind. Forget flashy football, this teams built for grinding ugly tough footy. Just need to pound away and wear teams down in the last 20mins.
