I suspect some views in here would be different if he wasn't perceived as an expendable player. But is he really as easily replaced as people suggest? Not sure about that.
Exactly.... If his nickname around these parts was "Maximus" or "Knuckles" instead of "Penis" he'd probably garner more support....

I think he was great last year ... and definitely part of our top 17 ... and tbh i dont know if we are that deep to be able to cut him

But i think our players have had it a bit easy for a while and he needs a real kick in the arse ..... gotta start drawing some lines

What do you reckon is a fair punishment? ... or maybe no punishment required?

I like him - good player.

But twice now he has gotten on the piss, made an idiot of himself, and hidden it from the club.

You'd expect that from an 18-year old, but not a 27-year old, tbh...

I think our players probably have had it a bit easy yes but that doesn't mean the next person who f**ks up even just a little bit gets the sack, especially at this point of the season. So a fine for sure but something on top of it as well, and no doubt alcohol counseling. Maybe just make the rest of the team do extra push ups like in all those army movies.

If I was the club, I’d gather the leadership group (if they have it) or simply both captains. Ask them to decide the fate based on all the gut busting they’ve done all season then this happens.

If they think he hasn’t put in and is just a goose then they can wipe him.

But if they know him as well as they should, they’d be the best judge to give him a pass (along with fine) and get on with the job if they believe in him.

Give them the genuine responsibility and put it in their shoulders as “leaders” and I think you’d get the right result.

The thing that remains, is that he clearly doesn't have either the balls or the care factor to report it to the club.

Like I said earlier, the two incidents are probably forgiveable. But the fact he hasn't informed the club both times is a bad look.
I just think that with this incident, not informing the club is more of a grey area. But even if you think otherwise it doesn't have to be the nail in the coffin.

After going through a full review of the club 6 months ago, with a large focus on culture (cultural foundations is the term they used), what message does it send to the playing group if he gets a slap on the wrist. The standards you ignore are the standards you accept. If Peni is made the example then so be it...someone needs to be. We will be a better club for it in the long run.

The first incident was bad. I mean getting thrown through a windscreen while drink driving is borderline maniacal...

But this second one, I don't see how it's a sackable offence. I mean hell, is it even an offence at all?? Yes it's boorish behaviour and he's made a dick of himself but he was not charged with breaking any laws, wasn't detained or kicked off the flight unless I've missed updated reports. I dare say if his contract was terminated based on this incident he'd have no issues getting it overturned if he went to court for wrongful dismissal. As for not reporting it... the merkin, you would hope, was embarrassed and again, with no police involvement or charges forthcoming thought that was the end of it.

My comments were generalised concerning NRL player behavior for the most part. As far as Peni is concerned, I'm just steamed up because we've had more than enough bad press for f**k knows how long. After reading about the exploits of so many other players and he then puts himself in a similar position leading into one of the most important seasons in Eels history only beggars belief.
