My mail last night was that we had made a 3 year offer in the range of low to mid $600k and that was pretty much where we were planning to sit.
Gutho's manager hasn't supposedly even taken this to Gutho as he (the manager) is trying to squeeze us to $700k for 4 years. Not likely to happen.

Little belief that any other clubs are queuing up to pay $700k for a centre because no one really needs a fullback. And keeping in mind our offer comes with captaincy and a new stadium is Gutho realistically going to say they aren't worth the difference he has been offered?

Typical 3%'r games being played out at the moment. Does mean signing announcement before Monday currently zero chance.

Listening to ABC radio on the weekend with Luke Lewis and Dene Halatau talking about player managers. They indicated that the managers generally charge about 7%. And Lewis basically said they are grime who do nothing much for their cash.

So, lets assume an average player contract is $300k and a player manager gets 7%. That's $21k per annum per player.
Probably spends about 10-15 days working in a contract year and 5 days in a non-contract year. So 25 days every 3 years for about $60k.

If he had a stable of say 10 players would earn $200k+ for effectively 80 days work a year... no wonder they are seen as grubs.

I am not necessarily begrudging them their salary but they need to actually earn it FFS.

Thanks for the update. It’s never a good sign when the manager plays it out in the media. Hopefully gutho doesn’t attempt to take us to the cleaners and is willing to sign on. If not so be it.

Yep, that's basically the gist of what Lewis was saying. They make plenty of promises to players to entice them to sign up, but his experience was that they rarely follow through. Did his last contract himself and it only cost him $450 for his solicitor to vet it.

Well der Luke. The TPA debacle highlighted that. They’re only workload is in the Gunco range of turning a $200kish contract into $700k. Whenever a player gets into trouble, it’s always the club helping them out, agents are the ones whose job it should be to stop them getting into trouble
