Warriors approached the broncos and sought permission to speak with him, which was granted. That’s the only way it works. Case in point the Eels accusing the warriors of trying to speak with Brown before the deadline
Good news for us. This means Brown will be with us long term and probably does not have a desire to return any time soon.

Don't think anyone wants him to go, but Ayoub is playing the long game, using the media and basically prepared to play chicken with his own player and the club.

Not sure where it's going, but sort of have to want the club not to bend over. It's that simple, if Gutho wants to be captain, and wants to back up what he often says about playing for the club, maybe it's a good idea if he actually went a bit on the front foot and got his manager to get the deal done. Then again, I have no idea the mindset of that generation, their attention span is mosquito like , so he may be prepared to sit back and accept whatever.

Then there is reality. Some players will except a 50-100K loss and stay, but others may say I'm worth what others have offered me and I'm in this game for a short time and I'm the captain and I bust my arse more then most on and off the field here, and others may just say stick it I love money and it's the principle merkins and others still might just say," Let me see the money!"

But none of these attitudes means that he is not a leader and would not bleed blue and gold if he stayed. He has proven just that. Money and putting food on your table is a different monster. All those great Bulldogs teams, were assembled with huge salary packets not for just the love of the clubs for example. Cameron Smith isn't still playing for the Storm because he decided to stay at the Storm for less the then Gold Cost back in the day. How many of you would leave $50-100K on the table over a 3-4 year period in your best earning years?

Just because you want top dollar doesn't negate attitude, leadership and ability. Like I said, he is worth around that $700K mark when you compare him to all the other fullbacks out there. He is not being unreasonable. If we came in with a figure of around that months ago or even weeks ago I'm sure this whole thing would have been settled by now. Just give it to him and stop the circus already.

The Broncos have for 2 or 3 very talented halves coming through, the Hobbit is a 14 at best IMO.

Seaplod has 5 years with the boards backing this season is a right off for them anyway. Getting one of these gun halves signed long term with some game time is probably his priority. And getting Nikorima off their cap is an added bonus.

What? He's played the whole of this season in the position so far (and doing it pretty well) and pretty much played there most of last season. When was the last time Hoffman, French or Will Smith played most of a season at fullback in first grade? French would be most recent but even then it's a few years ago and he was often playing wing as well
“The whole of this season” is only seven games long. French played 12 of 16 games at fullback in 2017. The most Gutherson has played at fullback in a season is 11 games (out of 19) last year and he was shit. He finished the year at centre.

But like French, there was obviously potential for improvement. French has been far too good for reserve grade this year. He’s a definite option.

I said "so far". Gutherson only played 5/8 last year when we had injuries in the halves in the middle of the season. He was fullback before they were injured and after they came back. He was our first choice fullback up until round 22.

And on French I reckon he is likely to go to wooden spoon contenders the Bulldogs or Titans next year.

They’ve tried him at fullback and he was hopeless.

They tried him at centre then too and he was hopeless and eventually dropped till he got his attitude and D in order.

Not saying he would or wouldn't be a great fullback, but what would you know? Guessing much? It took Holmes a season or so to get his head around fullback too after he was already established in the NRL for a few years ffs.

This is a very good point. I hope somebody is in French's ear telling him to work hard because there could be an opportunity. If Gutherson splits I would cross train him at centre for the rest of the year and get French some opportunities at the back.
Guth to 14 and sub Mahoney if he leaves

You do realise that if we put an offer of $720-$750k on the table, his manager is just as likely to up his request to say $800k right? $700k was the asking price until 4 days ago when suddenly it jumped to $750k.

Pfft if Gunco signs elsewhere, especially Moanly, I’d drop the f**ker.

Anyway I reckon the problem is with negotiating and I suspect the lack of “negotiation skills” isn’t from anyone at club.

Who else does this bloke manage? Does he have form with this kind of shenanigan?

Who was injured in Round 12 in Brisvegas when Norman played fullback and Gutho joined Moses in the halves?

Yeah I wonder why?

It's also stunning that Gutho gets the benefit of the doubt from many for his lack of fitness last year, but French doesn't?

He missed the start of the year, came back early, and then got injured again. In a team that was getting smashed it's no wonder he was so poor

I am warming to the idea of French running up the middle off of Junior offloads and Moses inside balls.
