So the question to you all, if gutho signs, does he stay fb and captain? Or do we promote within looking towards 2020.

The high number of metres with low tackle breaks also supports my theory. If you use your eyes you’ll also see it. When we have teams on the back foot he’ll make 18+ runs. Against the Knights he made 7.

The merkin is leading the comp for lba’s and running 3rd in the comp for try assists. There is no doubt we’re using Gutho as a second five eight, and righty so considering Salmon hasn’t shown a great deal of play making. If you used your eyes you would see this. If we have the opposition on the back foot, I want the ball to go to those who are likely to capitalise. It’s hardly “hogging the good ball”.

If he signs, good on him. 750k over 4 years is too good to pass up especially if you live local to your job.

I am not sure just giving Mannah back the captaincy is the right thing so he (Gutho) would keep it imo unless there is another obvious candidate in BA's eyes.

Agreed. You really can’t blame him for trying to capitalise on all the hype over him recently, we only have ourselves to blame, calling him “the king” and whatnot.

We’re obviously not wanting to spend that much on a fullback or we’d just give it to him. The obvious downside is what fullback is available that is anywhere near Gutho’s quality?

IF we do lose Gutho, we only have ourselves to blame. We’ve played chicken and would have lost. Had we stumped up the $700k a few weeks ago then I reckon he would have already re-signed and we wouldn’t be having this media shit storm.

Here’s a question, assuming Ayoub gives us the final right of reply and he is carrying a genuine offer from Manly for $750k, what do you think the club does?

- Stay at 650k and play hardball
- Up the offer to 700k with a contract and pen in hand and say this is it. Sign now or offers withdrawn
- Match the offer and be done with it

I truly believe the club are banking on no other club reaching the amounts Gutho is wanting. If they’re wrong they will have missed out on his signature for a measly $50k (the difference of where we are currently at and what he was originally asking). IMO that would be a f**k up of epic proportions.

Give up the $$$ now for long term gain play out of a great Home stadium, Up and coming Juniors playing with the great Semi Radradra once again at the Eels!

Or go to Manly wait for Des to get sick of you again not play your favored position and when the 4 years are over your price has dropped dramatically..

Dont play Hardball as right now the club only has 1 option keep with the offer they have or every manager will play the same game when their clients contract is up..

Moses is also up for a new contract imagine his manager playing the same game along with the other 24 players off contract with the Eels
