If you ask fellow supporters what their opinion is of Gutho currently, it is completely opposite to 2 weeks ago. The females in my family were massive fans and loved Gutho. They now have turned off him to the extent that he is reacted to the same as JH. They don’t want to know as they feel rightly or wrongly massively betrayed

Do we really know how involved Gutho himself has been so far though?

Going by everything he's said so far he's left it all to Ayoub and isn't involved at all. I have the feeling he's being unjustly tarnished by all of this.

I do think it's hillarious how he can go from "The King, the greatest player at Parramatta" to "He's a grub, get rid of him" in a matter of weeks based on a few newspaper articles and nothing more. Fans on the whole are a dumb, misinformed, gullible bunch of idiots.

The dude is 25. This is likely to be the biggest contract of his career, or three if the biggest five or so years. Especially with his injuries. Of course he's going to get everything he can, that's the game.

I reckon people feeling "betrayed" by some random footballer they've probably never said more than "can I have your autograph sir?" to is unbelievably juvenile and ridiculous.

When you go to a restaurant, you don't stand at the kitchen door and yell instructions to the chef, you sit at your table and let them do their job.

You don't see Ayoub on the sidelines yelling tips at Gutho on how to play better.

Now, I don't personally know for sure, but my impression is that the negotiations so far have been left to Ayoub, I've seen nothing to suggest otherwise. He very well may be talking to Ayoub on a regular basis being very involved in the whole process, what the hell do I know.

I'm also of the opinion that the fan backlash probably isn't that big a deal to him either. He's had people calling him a shit player/person his whole career, I don't see why it would bother him now.

I think just about everyone agrees that IF Manly have offered Gutho $750K a year then he can go

but, he hasn't signed or signalled an intention to sign

I saw an article this morning suggesting that Manly want to meet with the Guthbus. If what we are supposedly told about Manly's offer to Guth is true, then surely they have already spoken to him.

If Guth had met with Manly then all other media outlets would be all over it, not just these two pretend journos.

I think its safe to conclude that Manly haven't offered shit and its all just Ayoub talking shit. Manly may have some interest in Guth but I dont believe any offer has been made and a lot of this is just media beat up by 2 so called journos to help Ayoub play his game.

The other anomaly is that on each occasion Clint has been asked about his contract he refers the interviewer to "Sam" yet reports now claim that Gutho himself is meeting with Manly. Sounds pretty suspect to me.
Additionally how many off contract players are linked to our Eels without any substance. If our leaders were to acknowledge every journalists claim they would be doing little else. Its probably why Manly have remained silent on the matter.

Isnt the 5/8 Keighran the goal kicker? Ive quite liked what I've seen from him more so than the half back. There ya go. I think Keighran has a bit of a chequered past?
