I'd like to think BA will use those juniors available after 30 June but he hasn't a strong record with utilising our juniors.
FFS, this is total BS. What juniors should he have debuted earlier or did he not at all ?

Who has he let go?
Matterson,Twal, Alioi. I mean they are ok but nothing special. Matterson is the only guy I'd be interested in.

And Matteson was a five eighth at the time, and not a very good one.

He is a good player. Shame BA didnt see him at a 2nd rower but at same time he is just another plug and play guy. No better or worse then say LANE.

Well Twal had Jnr, Mannah, Wicks, Peni and Alvaro ahead of him.

Matterson was a 6 and only put on size after he left the club. IMHO at 6 he was just a Daniel Wagon link man and edge defender. He really offered nothing in attack plus we had Corey Norman.

Yes. But Rooters where able to see this immediately. And made him gain weight and play 2nd row. Our staff seemed to write him off as a player.

Twal is average.

Matterson was a big unit before he left parra. Always destined to play in the backrow

The Roosters actually used him at centre for a bit before fully moving him to the back row IIRC.

Basically he's a bits and pieces player who has kicked on in a way literally no one expected

No this isn't true. I always thought he had talent and would make it. I also recall fans saying he should be moulded into a forward who can ball play.

Not straight away.
He played 6 games in the halves for the Roosters in his first year there and only one as a starting 2nd rower. He did play 8 off the bench though and probably in the forward rotation.

Not the point. Plenty said he'd be a first grader.

How many said he'd be NSW 18th man and a bees dick off actually being selected for Origin as a back rower? How many saw him play and thought he'd be the high quality defender out wide that he's become? Anyone who claims to is lying.

So you would have matched the Roosters offer and kept him ? Who would you have played him in front of ? Beau Scott, Kenny Edwards, Manu Ma’u or Tepai Moeroa ?

Yes this is true. I seen him as just a solid NRL player and to this point I still do. I would not swap him for Lane.

We had signed him for 3 or 4yrs and let him go the following. We would of been paying part of contract for sure. And Rooster got themself a bargain.

I never in a million years thought Ryan Matterson would develop into the player he is now, but I did always rate him.

Not as a borderline Origin forward, though.

I was under the impression matterson left because we didnt see him as a half ... did the roosters tell him they did then convince him otherwise once he arrived?

My impressions of Matterson when he was here were that he’d wind up a Bryce Cartwright clone. Good with ball but a lettuce leaf in defence. He’s gone ok with Tigers. I seriously don’t see how he’s anywhere near Origin though

Yeh, but developing and keeping blokes like Twal / Aloiai is not necessarily about getting a 'better' player. It is about getting an equivalent player cheaper, so you can spend your $$ elsewhere.

Matterson was clearly a first-grade talent, his problem was more with attitude.
