A lot of my points can be verified on my website.

I mean the veracity of the points can be verified.

Well that's what I read. You obviously read something different. At least we agree basketball was once a novelty but now people care about it.

One thing about basketballs invention is that it really was invented from pretty much from scratch. Sure some kid must have thrown a ball or a rock into a basket at some point in history but it is a very unique sport otherwise.

Pretty much. Due to the Massachusetts weather it needed to be indoors.

Yes, I read about that in a book called 'The Ball' by John Fox which is a sort of a short history of some ball sports (mainly American sports). Very interesting and it is one of the things that kicked off my interest in thinking about rugby leagues rules and the game play which as I have made clear I think sucks severe arse.

I just caught the last 15 minutes of a state of origin game from 1998 which has me depressed again about how bad the last 20 years has been for our game.

Yep. Merkins are happy for the game to have changed in the past but not for it to change in the future.

Anyway like so many experiments the Nines is a winner. Far better than Sevens, which is why the latter has been shitcanned. The Nines is still a novelty but enough merkins like it that it hasn't gone away. If it can survive the whole it's-just-a-novelty phase merkins will accept that it has more of the rugby league shit they do like and less of the shit they don't.

In 20 years we should be able to have a Gender of Origin Series. Until then we could have a game with 9 blokes and 4 women on each team. To make it more interesting, the blokes must all weigh less than 65kgs and the women can be any size you want.

What about non-binary people? When do they get a chance to play league?

I love when the topic becomes me...but let’s get back to rumours.
Rumour has it that at 530 this arvo Fox NRL has Eels v Dogs from 1986 ROUND TEN.!!! Anyone ever seen that game. It’s like finding new porn staring your favourite porn star.
I am actually going to reschedule my whole afternoon to watch it.

I just spat out coffee that I drank 12 hours ago.
You are kidding right?

Nah, bro.

I love watching Jackson play, but I love watching great defence.

Khalil Mack is my favourite player ever - he is unbelievable.

Offence, and defence, both have their places in the NFL, and each is exciting in its own way.

For rugby league, it just happens that blokes need to be able to attack, and defend, to be elite players.

*SPOILER ALERT* Lost the game I am pretty sure. We beat them late in the season at Belmore, but I am almost certain we lost to them at home early in the season. So unless we played them earlier than round 10, this is probably that home loss.

My only memory of 86 season, apart from obviously every second of the GF coverage, is that the Crow got an eye injury at (I think) a trial match in Cessnock that kept him out for a while. So I bet Crow is not in this game which may explain why we lost to the cheating Dog scum (if indeed we did).
