Reed’s a very good kicker as well, he just needs to use it more.

I’d rather Reed over McInnes and Korisau. B Smith is an unknown entity as a full time hooker so on that basis alone I’d prefer him. Agree Cam, Cook and Hodgson are superior but no doubt are valued higher in the market place. With our quality halves and desire for crazy line speed, Reed is the perfect fit for us...from a cost benefit perspective. Get it done O’Neill.

Hodgson, Smith, and Cook have also been playing First Grade NRL for far longer than Reed.

I'm a huge Reed Mahoney fan - he will be a rep star.

Are you drunk. He Gives nearly the best service from the deck in the whole comp. Cameron Smith has never been a notable runner of the ball. Best hooker to ever lie the boots. Not every hooker has got to run the ball. Mahoney obviously has been linked to a decision style making role more then a running roll..

Please don’t compare with Cameron Smith, it’s embarrassing to Smith. Smith runs the ball and is very smart when he does it. Mahoney does not take the line on even when there’s an opportunity that presents itself. He need to be able to mix up his game rather than the predictable pass or kick.

his passing game from dummy half isn’t bad. But it’s definitely isn’t nearly the best as you put it. If that’s all he’s going to do (pass the ball) then he’d want to be the best at it. On occasions, by the time the ball arrives to Moses at first receiver the defence is up in his face.

Just wondering why we haven’t re-signed him yet....

Reed is tough and a leader at just 22, the Broncos would love some of his toughness and leadership atm. Should we go broke re-signing him?? No but I think he deserves a decent upgrade on what he is on ATM. And with the new rule changes I think you will find him running more especially if the pack keep laying a good foundation.

that’s the thing I was expecting more running last week but I couldn’t recall any times when he did. I’d he can get it into his game it would make him one of the top 5.

Why would you want him running the ball more if he's no good at it?

I agree he's not special, and probably never will be, but he's a first grader and only going to get better. I hope we re-sign him but if he leaves I'll assume he wanted too much.

In O"niel we trust

I want him to run the ball because it means that his game would not be predictable. It will help Moses and Brown at first receiver as teams won’t know if he’s passing, running and kicking. Last year against the dogs he took on the line and set up a really nice try. I’m not saying he’s got to do it every set but he needs to be less predictable for the good of the team

He took the opportunity against the dogs when he set up that try.
I think he has the best service from dummy half at the moment. The width he gets with passes puts the halves outside the middle defence.

I think Reed has the best service from dummy half. He puts the halves outside the middle defence with the width he gets. Even when he receives some off loads he throws the ball wide. As for running from dummy half he does when the opportunity provides. A lot of the time when we get quick play the ball Gutho is at dummy half to try and take advantage.
I would be disappointed he he went elsewhere.

Lets get Reed running more from dummy half because he'll be unpredictable (even if he isn't effective).

Yep, sounds like a good plan...

Yep. I'd probably have him on par with Koroisau, who is almost an extra half as an attacking player but can be awful in defence.

Definitely better than Ploddy McInnes and that wombat looking merkin.

Mahoney has run the ball seven times this year. Smith ran eight times yesterday.

How can we expect him to consantly run from DH when hes required to do a million tackles every game and now with no minutes off as his substitute has been dropped (or injured). Sheesh......... some people want it all. Are ya with me Poo?

This insistence that Mahoney should run more reminds me of the time they said that about Tim Smith way back in 2005 when he had the NRL record for most try assists.

Mahoney doesn’t need to do this. We have the best young hooker in the game yet we want to change his style which thus far has proved very effective.

I don't care if he doesn't run. We have more dangerous players he could pass to after a quick play-the-ball, including some of our middle forwards.

I was just pointing out Jake is right for once. Mahoney runs f**k all while Cam Smith runs a fair bit more.
