But anyway 09 was a NRL aberration because of Hayne condensing what his career should’ve been into a dozen odd games. If we want BA to do whatever Anderson did in 09 to turn us around, then we should also be prepared for repeats of 2010 through to 2016. They were fun years.
But seriously I’m warming more to bringing Bennett in as an offsider to BA and possibly moving Murphy on for Carr.
And Carr does have designs on being an NRL head coach

Yeah it would make more sense having assistant coaches nobody would want or have no chance getting a first grade gig, less pressure on your head coach. Smart operator is BA, safe as houses……….

Those that advocate a change in the asst ranks ( yep I‘m one) are basically looking for the 4/5 % improvement needed to get us to the next level. Why change the Head Coach who is well respected by the playing group, can influence players to join the club, and has real interest in bringing juniors through to NRL.

Understand that those that are there currently are really good people and have the clubs interest etc, but there are times when fresh voices and subtle changes in tactics and structures make the difference. Feels that’s where we are, hope that I’m proven wrong and we go on to win everything, but when the difference needed to achieve the ultimate goal seems within reach, those changes may bring home the holy grail.

An 8 season coach with the roster he wants but but but but we shouldn’t expect any more than beating up some shit teams.

Just like how we were a chance of not winning (as post-season favourites) in 2001 and 2005, Melbourne and Penrith are a chance of not winning this year. We are even a chance of winning instead. It's very exciting.

So anything can happen on the day. That's what we're hoping for. You seem to think we should be favourites against the Storm and Panthers, and the only thing stopping it is Murphy and Kidwell ffs

Is it that much to expect the side to play better?? Do better?? Especially in attack, we have the same coach and attack coach and a settled spine that has been together for the best part of 3 seasons?? Half the time they look like strangers out there.

And if you nab someone like Bennett you make him the coach or don’t bother.

Bennett is all but signed up for the new Queensland franchise that’s at least another season away. He ain’t signing up for a one year stint somewhere else as head coach.
And wanting to be better is great. Just don’t get fixated on what you think is the cause and what you think is the solution

Cant see the new Brisbane side starting until 2024 at the earliest after whats happened this year.

That means Bennett has no job for 2 seasons unless he takes over QLD origin.

In saying that - i dont want him at our club. In the last decades he's only performed when he has a team of stars. He screwed the Knights, and was poor in his second stint at the broncos when their squad wasn't great. Then you consider the fact he cant lift the Rabbits which is full of stars to win a prelim.

Whatever mate, but your constant posting about Brian Smith is getting old. Smith had 10 years at the club and we won zero.

Did we ever win a comp with Brian? NO, So instead of telling us how much you love Brian why don't you just get a room with him. Then you can tell him in person.

How about you dig up some of my posts where I said he was the best coach never to win a comp, or ones where I said he is tactically one of the greatest coaches of all time. Or one where I said there one was no one better to help build a club from the ground up or putting systems in place to be successful.

His time was up as coach and he had done all he could, and he deserved a comp for his time here but it wasn’t to be. But I don’t know how many posts I would have in here about bringing him to the club as head of football I notice you didn’t post one of them…….
