So they are staying because of Brad? not because they “love” the club that has so much to offer….so if by miracle another club was interested in Brad, and he left and they followed, are they the players we want, i would prefer players who are hungry who play for anyone, anywhere, and your happy they re signed, I personally find it concerning and perplexing, considering the coach is a “run of the mill”
That is a well thought out post, 👏👏👏👏👏

Wasn’t sure where to post this but it fits under “and stuff”… Had the pleasure of training with Dylbags, Papali’i, Hayze and big Maka this morning at the local F45 gym. Isaiah clocked my Eels shorts straight away. Anyway, honestly couldn’t speak highly enough of the boys. Were very gracious with their time to whoever wanted to speak to them, get pics etc etc.

Anyway, Papali’i was saying how great it is that BA has been extended and what a positive influence he’s been on his career. Said all the boys love playing for him. I mentioned how we’ve got a great squad at the moment and how hopefully everyone stays and that I would guess that BA extending will help that happen.

He said that’s definitely the case with him, he was keen to see what was happening with the coach and thinks everyone would be similar. Think he mentioned Gutho probably first to re-sign and then everyone in after that.

Anyway, nothing earth shattering or ground breaking but it’s nice to write something positive when often negative stuff gets reported about players. View attachment 54912

Maybe they're just staying because they want the club to have a good coach, rather than some nuffy the fans hope might be the next Bellamy (but will probably be the next Kearney/Langmack/Barrett). Arthur's is a good coach. The players know him, they know he's good enough, so they're staying. The club would have to be off their f**ken heads to sack Kearney for an unknown like Ciraldo or Fitzgibbon. Even Flanagan carries plenty of risk, especially reputational risk.

perhaps it was actually BA who got the best out of him
Well yeah the backend of 2019 and probably 1st half of 2020 he played his best football.

2018 he was dreadful like the team and similar to his performances this year for the warriors.

Roosters i didnt watch him closely enough but they dont let anyone go who they want to keep so i would suggest they werent fussed in losing him back in 2017

Excellent share mate.

I spent 4 hours in a golf cart with Papali'i earlier in the year. He is a really nice, polite and considerate young man. A testament to his parents. I am so glad as a club that we got him for both on and off the field.

The club is the people, without the people the club is little more than a hollow corporate entity with a Jersey, and a fish that failed at evolution.

Great article. I hazard a guess that we are way behind them in the way we see and do our development.

Also wasn't Matt Cameron one of ours? Can't we get him back somehow?

Behind? of course we are, we only took the “development club” direction in 2019. Panthers took it about 10 years ago!!

While its got nothing to do with Matt Cameron, it’s got to the with clubs board taking that direction. Cameron is just managing the process!! I reckon Joey / Issac and co are probably doing just as good now, but it needs time.

and look we also have 14’s, 15’s and 16’s development squads to:

And I guarantee not all clubs do this, dragons definitely don’t.

Another article Ive read today mentions Ryan Carr being interviewed as an assistant to F'n Madge. The article referred to Carr an an ex NSW Cup Coach. Interesting.
