So you agree, Melbourne did better than us. They signed an even better replacement 9-10 months prior to him starting with them. We knew Fergo was gone 12 months ago. He was told he wouldn’t be renewed. We still haven’t upgraded to anyone better, unless you class Curtis Scott as better lol.
Didn't we decide to promote Fergo's replacement from within? Dunster comes to mind. I think he replaced Fergo when he got dropped and stayed in FG for four or five weeks until Fergo made his way back into FG. And then Dunster replaced the injured Sivo.

I'm just pointing out that people panicking that we haven't signed replacements 16 months before they are going to need to play footy for us is a little premature. Scott is obviously a risk, but if it comes off he's a pretty good player.

I think everyone is also forgetting that we get to have Niukore and Papali'i on our books for another year, for a combined figure of something that starts with a 3, before they move on and someone else pays them each something that starts with a 6.

I still can't believe I'm writing that Niukore is going to get paid something starting with a 6! And isn't it for 4 years or something? FMD, the bloke would be overpaid by any club for an amount that starts with 4!

Also, in my view, in reality we've been a Top 6 side the last 3 season primarily due to the combined efforts and abilities of probably 6 to 8 players - Gutho, Drown, Moses, Mahoney, RCG, Paulo, and to some extent Nrown and Fergo. The rest are bit role players, that admittedly have been great for us, but in my view, someone else could've worn the same jumper and they would've been just as great.

We we're a Top 6 team without Papali'i. Were we really that improved with him? No. He plays a role and does a job, but he's expendable.

You don't always get a better replacement straight away. The Storm replaced Vunivalu with Gennings ffs. They obviously needed to use the cap space elsewhere. So do we.

f**k knows. My point is that Melbourne have done a better job at replacing players than us, which was the question Pou asked.
No I asked if they were desperate, which means snapping up the top mercenaries before the end of November. You think it's coincidence that the Warriors, Tigers and Dogs are the ones making big signings at this time of year?

Penisini's extension might've involved a decent upgrade next year too. There are plenty of ways we could've used Ferguson's cap space next year. We allegedly offered Papali'i an upgrade this year. It's surely a tactic we will use to get other retentions across the line.

Who did they replace the coaches favourite ever player in Finucane with?

Someone that apparently is their entire culture?

No one it would seem.
Easy for one bloke's cap space to disappear in other players' upgrades signed while he was still at the club. The Storm could've spent his 2022+ money (and made the decision to let him go) long before 2021.

Wighton is more of a second fullback who's strong enough to defend in the line without creating a weakness. Like Dylan Brown.
He also has a lot of errors and brain explosions in him. He can break tackles but I don’t think he’s creative enough as a half to warrant big money.

I would say Fergo’s “upgrade” is being able to afford Rheed. You can’t upgrade every departing player like for like positionally.

And now you’ve let your whinge get away from with hindy showing who Scum have lost in getting Coates.
I think you should forgo schoolies this year and up your learnding.
