what is it?
No more 6-agains for teams inside their own 40m zone for ruck infringements - instead, it will be a penalty.
what is it?
My bold prediction still stands regarding Mahoney. NRL are pissed the way Dogs have signed players and set Dolphins back a couple of stepsThat's a lot of theory that I think is way off the mark and not based on reality.
Reality is that he has turned every club he has been fulltime associated with into a premiership force. I think he will do it even easier then he did with the Panthers. At the Panthers he had to wear a million hats, including Resurrector and Savior. At the Dogs he doesn't need to do anything else other then apply his full attention and focus on the football department.
Also he has around 2/3rds of a top seventeen that can go all the way already. Like I said, all he really needs is a mature quality half and probably a fullback. Then it is a matter of a couple more frontrowers and they would be a legit premiership contender. You think he will struggle to get there? The hardest part of his job now is the playmaker. We don't know if Burton is the eventual man that can organise and lead the team around. I think he probably is, but it will take time. Around 3-5 years from now. Probably closer to 5.
Anyway, we are just guessing. All I know is don't bet against a champion that has proven time and time again that he knows more about football then almost anyone else in the freakin world even if he is a egotistical wanker. Most peoples judgments of him are tainted by this. But he always ends up delivering. Just because he flip flops and changes his tune to suit his current narrative is irrelevant to his ability and genius in regards to his work. I too would say and do whatever I thought would better the outcome I am working towards no matter what you or any other irrelevant non player person(NPP) thought or said in the world that I live in. You and every other critic is just irrelevant static.
Just remember this. It is his door that clubs beat down to sign for more then $1m a year not yours or any other critics. Enough said.
Oh P.S.
He has most player managers in his pocket mate, so signing players has never been a problem for him. He will always be able to convince enough quality players and their managers to sign for the club he represents. It should get easier from here on in to recruit players for the Dogs not harder since they will be seen as a quality roster and a team well managed and on the way up. And lets not forget he has a great benefactor in his pocket if the need should arise.
Some of you people need to think before you start to type weakly thought out ideas and bias thoughts.
I’m fine with this one. Not really a rule change. And at least it isn’t a midseason changeExhibit A of why the NRL is a joke - let's change rules every season!
An adjustment to a shit rule change which was blatantly exploited...thank goodness some common sense has prevailed hereI’m fine with this one. Not really a rule change. And at least it isn’t a midseason change

They're trying to improve the game as a spectacle, which is a commendable goal. But yes, many of their rule changes are half arsed.Exhibit A of why the NRL is a joke - let's change rules every season!

The other thing is that smart coaches start looking at ways to exploit new rules etc and the original good intent to improve the spectacle turns in to a cluster f**k and has the opposite effect.I think that's exactly my biggest gripe - spend more time researching, and then make the change.
Bringing in a new rule, and amending it 12 months later, seems quite amateurish to me.
The original intent was good. Teams just kicking the shit out of the ball to get it over the dead ball line so they could get a set defensive line and nullify broken field runners was a negative in the game (I'm looking at you Wayne Bennett/Jamie Soward).now get rid of the 7 tackle set for kicking ball dead!
it’s to big of a disadvantage now especially when they get to start it 20 metres out…..actually getting it 20 metres out is a big enough disadvantage now days..…
stupid rule and additionally a lot of times there is stuff all in it giving the 7 tackle set away (like attacking a kick and knocking it dead)
Unintended consequences. It's the reason why most of the time the best option is to leave shit alone. The other thing is that smart coaches start looking at ways to exploit new rules etc and the original good intent to improve the spectacle turns in to a cluster f**k and has the opposite effect.
100% spot on. I remember being at a parra v dragqueens game and Soward kept doing it and was being booed...well it didn't take much to boo him. He did have a great kicking game and great acceleration off the mark but he had a shit attitude and a face for punching...The original intent was good. But then extending the 7 tackle restart to any indiscretion in the in goal was stupid. Like, reaching out with your arm extended attempting to score a try but dropping it over the line should not result in a 7 tackle restart on the 20...
Cheers mate.@I'm a loser baby... good to see you around the traps!!!
Absofu**enlutely!forget the dolphins
we lost a really good player in bidding battle with a team who didnt have room in the cap to offer him what they did.
its BS and teams shouldnt be able to do it.
Or a lost ball in the act of trying to score a try. 7 tackles. Thats just fu**ed.now get rid of the 7 tackle set for kicking ball dead!

This is what I dislike most about the game!now get rid of the 7 tackle set for kicking ball dead!

I'm going to get the fact checkers on that.
