But it’s also not like all the players who did make it weren’t also mentioned on here.
Also we’re not the only team in the only sport where promising youngsters fail to turn into superstars
I remember telling merkins not to hype up juniors, specifically in response to Benji Marshall (I played Oztag with his cousin in 1999 and the merkin was telling me this Benji kid would be a superstar) and also when every merkin on here was salivating over Jarryd Hayne back in about 2004. Both players actually turned out to be pretty decent.

I'm sure he had a reason, and if I was him I would be chasing the money too.
If I was him, I would too.. He is 22, 23. Still enough time to win a premiership, if that is what he desires but probably money first.

He probably already makes the NZ team so he doesn't lose out leaving Parra.

Can't play SOO so might as well try and set yourself and your parents up at such a young age.

Injuries can come any time, so lock it in Eddie asap

I intentionally downplay every junior. Better to risk one admission I was wrong for the 50 I told you so’s I can dish out every year

For some its a passion with the ultimate being a premiership with a group of great mates.
For others its a job with the goal being a huge pay day.
You win comps when your roster has more from group one than group two.
Good coaching also helps.

That’s very naive.

I'm sure there are players more motivated by money than others. These are the ones you're less likely to get value from under the cap. Not to say that people motivated by money aren't good workers (in my industry the worst people to work with are the ones motivated by passion) but that with a salary cap involved, you need to maximise the amount of football you get out of merkins per dollar spent under the cap.

Co vid has gone fully sick with this Omnibus variant.

We might have to cancel next season or play the season offshore, somewhere like Tasmania.

You heard it here first. Don’t shoot the messenger.

The government has just given up. We are all doomed.

Daniel Mortimer was going to be as good as his dad. Bevan French was going to be unbelievable.
No disrespect to Peter Mortimer but I don't necessarily think being better than him makes you a worldbeater or a star by any stretch.

In hindsight, Dan was probably on par with his old man, maybe below. Average at best

Not Tassie. It's another planet. I've heard down that way when the parents divorce the kids are no longer considered brother and sister.

He would if one of us sign the adoption papers.

Ffs I’m just holidaying up here for the off season. Hawaiian t shirt, sunnies etc. Fun in the sun.

For the love of Mary:

It’s on the sgi Sack Mary thread, but there was a strong rumour that Mary was signed to his last contract with sgi on the basis that the eels were looking to sign him to replace BA.
It came from a journalist originally. Not us.

Thinking about it, if true, it suggests to me that at the start of 2019 at least, you had an sgi spy in your midst at possibly board or senior executive level.

A thesis accepted by a few sgi forumers. Solid people imho. Many pleased by the leak at over at the eels, but some strangely quiet.

Then after a short period in limbo, where does Mary pop up?

And what about this nonsense about BA on his last legs despite being an elite coach? Why is he subjected to this rubbish despite a fair run deep into the finals. A coach on the improve and one of a only a couple that have mastered the new rules.

I’m concerned there are destabilising elements and a rat in the ranks somewhere at or about eels hq.

People risking their careers and their way of life for sgi and who knows, other clubs getting top secret eels intelligence for a handsome sum?

A hidden agenda?
