There are a heap of better songs with Paradise in the name than Cold Play. For a start both

Guns n Roses - Paradise City
Green Day - Welcome to Paradise

would be less likely to induce insomnia than Coldplay.
Unsure of you have pay royalties for stuff like this. If so, you'd prolly get the Choirboys for a pie n coke.

It's high time we adopt Coldplay - Paradise as our anthem. Everything has changed since the Jon English song.

Yes it is a great song for us, especially if our womens team used it in a promotion for them and the game. If they did a good clip(telling a story) with it as the music it could be awesome.

Mate as good as those songs are, do you know the lyrics? Hardly uplifting or family friendly. I suppose they could just play the Paradise bit over and over again. Also why not incorporate all of them and any other catchy "Paradise" tune we can think of? You can never have enough variety when it comes to music, otherwise it can get very annoying over time.

Also I like the idea of unofficially branding out stadium the Cathedral which is obviously in Paradise. I'm on my way to Paradise to watch the boys play in the Cathedral. Turn the stadium into our shrine and holly place. Give it the reverence it and we deserve. Also could nickname it St Peters.

Great idea. Or you could name it the synagogue, temple or mosque or maybe just CommBank Stadium.

Mate teams play hit songs at the game all the time, that Neil Diamond song which gets a good run comes to mind.

Maybe not but are these lyrics from Coldplay's Paradise uplifting?

"When she was just a girl she expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
And the bullets catch in her teeth
Life goes on, it gets so heavy
The wheel breaks the butterfly
Every tear a waterfall
In the night the stormy night she'll close her eyes
In the night the stormy night away she'd fly"

I just reckon you need a good energetic song to pump up the crowd.

I know that. What do you know about royalties when music is played in a public space ?
Pretty sure you have to pay royalties if your using a song for a commercial venture (which would include at the games). There might be some getting around them if you only play a snippet of a song but I'm not sure.

I dont think it matters who we bring to our club if we persist in playing our current style that just dosent seem able to take us to the next level.
Fitzbibbon seems to have The Sharks playing a pretty good brand of footy. Whos to say its sustainable, but 8 years of the same game plan isnt ideal and if a premership was jagged due to unique circumstances it would be unlikely that style could create a dynasty. I keep reading that players make coaches. Some probably do but more often coaches make players. Its why Gibson, Bellamy and Bennett have had so much success. They can recognise whats required be it a junior or a more senior player they could develop not just to be tougher and willing but skill wise. Guys who can pound the line continually are a dime a dozen and its why we shop in the bargain basement aisle. I also wonder why there appears little loyalty to our club now days or a desire to join our Eels given how many we have been unsuccessfully linked to. I really hope this is our year and our strategy is to build better D&A different to past seasons. Ill be there watching regardless.
He has coached 3 games. That’s it.
He may work out soak but It’s laughable to make any assumptions yet.

Yes they are lyrics of hardship and difficulty. But that is what RL is mate, hardship and hard work to overcome it.

You left the best part out where she dreams of a better time, a better tomorrow and triumph over that hardship.

When she was just a girl she expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
So she ran away in her sleep
Dreamed of para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise, para-para-paradise
Every time she closed her eyes

Dream of para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise

She'd dream of para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise

Sing, la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
And so lying underneath those stormy skies
She'd say, "oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I know the sun must set to rise"

This could be para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise

This could be para-para-paradise
(Oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh)

This could be para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise

This could be para-para-paradise
Oh oh oh oh oh oh, oh, oh

This could be para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise

This could be para-para-paradise
(Oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh)

This could be para, be paradise
Para-paradise
Para-paradise

This could be para, be paradise
Para-paradise
Para-paradise

Also there are some other decent versions of the song too that girls have sung.
