He was probably costing them 350k-400k but not 800k. I feel that's the issue.

Yep. Too many merkins think there's some individual scapegoat who just needs to be rissoled. But it's the strength of the team that decides premierships, not just the fullback or halfback or hooker or coach.

Why? Marata was probably on 250k same as Kafusi when they signed. Papali'i 150k . Stone minimum. Mahoney was probably on less the the 400k we blew on that old guy with broken knees.
Matterson would be the only guy where we may have money to upgrade.
Papa, Kafusi,Stones,Mahoney money would of been spent on Makatoa,Ogden,Rodwell, Hodgson.

Maybe have 100k -150k spare from the 4.

I'd say Marata on $400k, Matterson been reported as $500k, Kaufusi $250k, Papalii $250k, Mahoney $400k and Stone $200k so $2m, With upgrades I'd say Maka on $150-200k, Ogden $150k, Rodwell $200k and Hodgson on $400k so leaving a large war chest to add someone better than Nikora.

On speed, If the Storm had an out and out speedster like JAC in their team still and with Paps also there, I dare say they would have found a way to blow us off the park out wide. Thank Christ they didn't have him or Coates out there last night.
