For those who want to bag Ricky he come at a hard time. You had guys above him interfering and a woefully roster.
Was it not Ricky who blooded Semi,Manu and KE? Do we credit him for those?

Easy to dish on Ricky but he unearthed some talent and culled a heap of dead wood. Cleared the path for BA
I've always praised him for getting rid of the deadwood and bringing decent players to the club.

Everything you've said is speculation. I've shown you the facts, and the facts are that Cleary did f**k all in his first stint at Penrith (one finals win in four years) and even less at the Tigers. In that case why bring him back unless it was a condition of their star halfback re-signing?
Lets compare his roster first up and during his second stint. Like looking at Parra's roster 2018 and now. Poles apart and poles better helps with better results.

And with Cleary, someone in the background constantly looking over his shoulder and making decisions that undermines him, intentional or not, is not ideal in achieving good results. Pou, as you know, stats are misleading unless you're comparing the same roster, as it changes each year, which is impossible to do so your statement is rubbish.

Ricky completely f... up our 2nd tier salary cap for 3 years.

It's why we got a heavy fine in 2015 for the previous season because i think Manu Mau was originally on match payments in 2014 and by round 2 we had exceeded in 2nd tier cap for that season.

BA and the club were hamstrung on what players could be used in parts of 2014.

Short term pain for long term gain?

No because my whole point is that the only thing that’s changed is the roster. Gould wasn’t coaching when he was there and he’s not coaching now, and in any case he knows more about the game than Cleary and has achieved more. You’re drawing a long bow to suggest that Cleary’s coaching was poor because of Gould. There is zero evidence for it and the only reason anyone would believe it is because they want to, because they don’t like Gould.

Should have made the finals by only having to beat one of the 12th placed Knights and 15th placed Raiders at the end of the season but failed to do so.
Grand final hangover from beating Manly the week before. Showed we lacked leadership in the playing group though.

Jarryd was too busy planning his NFL adventure.
He had a big old bludge in those final two games... Sure, Hayne scored 2 tries in the final game - but only after the score had blown out to 20-6 against, and all we could do was keep pace with (and not catch-up to) the Raiders. As an "elite" player near the top of his game, he should have dug deep (defence and attack) to keep us on track for a spot in the finals.
