But surely you would drop RCG, or Paulo, ahead of Brown?

They are bigger contracts, performing worse, and playing longer minutes.

Brown hasn't played big minutes in ages, and dropping him for his form seems a tad strange to me.

The first 2 are props and Brown is a lock. They're not substitutes.

Or another way of looking at it is that we signed a couple of good players for a couple of year on significant unders, and got pretty good value out of them. Kaufusi and Marata are eminently replaceable (and in the case of the former, at less cost than what the Sharks are allegedly paying him)....absolutely no problem with them moving on. The only players in our Top 13 that we have 'developed' are D Brown, Mahoney and Pensini (I guess you could argue Jnr...but he went away and came back). Assuming Matto is staying (and that's by no means clear), the big question is who replaces Ice.....and a decent centre would be nice.

i think marata is a very good player and he is going to be very hard to replace.

i don’t think RCG and barlow deserve to be dropped, but I’ve seen players perform far worse than brown in recent years and Ba failed to drop them.

I would say more often than not that when an established first grader gets dropped it is to try and force him out of the club.

Depends what your next best option is in the same position. We've been wanting to give Rodwell NRL time, and now we can. There's no way in hell that they'd drop Jnr or RCG to give the Emu an NRL role at the moment.

Keep an eye on Trey Mooney for the Raiders too. Ex parra junior who captained some junior teams when he was here. Big lump of a kid.
I think we are well and truly set for middles for next year. Acquisition of 2 backrowers and we have a very formidable forward pack.

He is a very good player. But others can play his role at a cost significantly less than than what the Warriors are alleged to be paying him. He and Oregon are easier to replace that Rheed and Ice IMO. Hodgson will be a rocks or diamonds signing, so we'll see how that goes. What we do to cover Ice's spot is the bigger question, but as I've said a few times now....we hadn't signed Ice til November of the year before he started playing for us...so there's plenty of time.

Literally we could....have you been watching Greig in Reggies though? If you know you definitely only want 10 NRL minutes that's fine....but if you are considering that an injury could mean him playing 30 minutes plus he's not a great option at the moment. And his defense is not in the ballpark of Kaufusi's. He might get there.
