How do you idiots not understand you're cherry-picking games ffs? Souths have been very inconsistent this year. They let the Knights score as many points as the Bulldogs (to match your cherry-picking with my own).

But as for whether the Bulldogs have improved under Potter I already said he has a better record than Barrett. It in no way supports us sacking our coach. It's a lot easier to find a better coach than Trent Barrett than to find one better than Brad Arthur. His record proves that.

You’re right but Gronk seemed to imply it was a double standard that Jake Arthur gets criticised for his poor defence whilst Sam Walker doesn’t.
What I was implying is that his defence is typical of a rookie half. They are all liabilities. To suggest that Jake is particularly bad is garbage.

But coaching is about the roster and luck, not actual coaching ability. So maybe they are both really f**king good coaches but just unlucky with the rosters they've had....
Obviously it's a bit of both. Look at Stuart's vastly different records at various clubs. It's not like he was a great coach at the Roosters but shithouse at Parra 11 years later.

Barret has had a much larger sample of fail than Potter though, and over an even larger sample Arthur has mostly won. Not many coaches have been as reliable as him, especially at our club.

His record at Cnterbury is little better.
He’s in a no lose situation. If they continue to suck then it’s a bad roster. If they start killing it then he’s a SuperCoach.

Well the evidence is that Arthur is a better defender than Walker.
The current overall net positive for Sam Walker is still greater. Much greater.
Well it's obvious or teams wouldn't have coaches ffs
Right

It doesn’t have to be a given. Look at Cleary.
The f**k merkin, he is 25 this year; five years older than Jake Arthur. But at the same age, when he was already a top 17 player because he is better than Jake Arthur (and most halfbacks) will ever be, his tackle efficiency was about the same as Arthur's.

Which would surely reflect his price. Either way it's irrelevant when we are comparing the defence of teenage halfbacks. Arthur is better. Whatever their difference in attack is reflected in their price and squad status.

IMO defence is the least of JA's problems. We had Chris Sandow as our 7 FFS, JA is a regular Johhny Raper in comparison....
I have no issue in the coach picking Jake provided they have a plan for Gutho and Reed and Brown to step up in attack. If they pick Jake he will be like Dylan in the early years and just play a link role and second choice kicker.

I am warming to Gutho to 6 and Russell (not Perham) to fulback, but either way it’s a bandaid.

I’m not comparing Arthur to Cleary now. I’m comparing them when they were both starting off. Cleary was always a strong defender even when he started in first grade. I never saw Cleary have defensive lapses like Arthur does despite what the tackle efficiency numbers may say.
