The report doesn't seem to have too much directly to do with the operations of the NRL side, but the fact that it has been leaked is interesting. It's doubtful Brown would've leaked it, so it has to be someone within the club. I suspect this could be a "first strike" prelude of what may follow should we fail to get over the Raiders tomorrow night.

I reckon the fact someone in the board has leaked this a day before a major semi final that Jake has been named in controversially in suggests to me BA in major trouble.

There hasn't been any leaks whatsoever for 4 years.

And someone has leaked it a day before our most crucial game of the year.

I obviously know little about the elite pathways, but I assume they're saying that people within the club have got positions within the club due to nepotism. I would have thought this would actually be the case for most clubs though?

What we don't have is context. Were they talking about the coach appointing his son to NRL ? No because this is a pathways report. So what would be viewed as nepotism in pathways ? Perhaps some clubs or players at certain clubs in the catchment are overlooked and they feel that they have not been given a fair go ? IIRC @Delboy has posted about this.

There is nepotism at every level at the club, players and coaches are selected on who they know or who their last name is. Plenty of talent has walked out the door because they aren’t related or mates with a certain coach or selectors.


Then we get to the head coach

Happens in cricket as well not just rugby league.

Marsh brothers copped it for years rightly or wrongly because they were the son of Geoff Marsh.

Comes with territory.

In the interests of fairness, this is almost certainly the case.

Having been heavily involved in the junior league the past few years, I can tell you that the perception that the report speaks to is that clubs feel certain clubs are the only clubs from which pathways reps are drawn.

However, there is also a perception that this form of nepotism is related to BA's affiliation with the Rhinos....

But the word nepotism has been deliberately leaked by someone inside the club to be reported that's the big story here.

this is the main concern...BA's hell bent propulsion of his son's career is causing the club to eat itself!

It's been common knowledge for a few years that a few clubs in the area arent happy that Rouse Hill have more influence in the junior reps.

Now it may be jealously or what not from those clubs but the fact BA was there for years doesn't help the perception.

2014 - 10th squad was a basket case
2015 - 12th squad still shit.
2016 - 8th * picked up Foran, Flash Gordon, Mennings, Cam King
2017 - 4th
2018 - spoon - Jarryd Hayne came back
2019 - 5th
2020 - 3rd
2021 - 6th
2022 - 4th

* We were docked 12 points because of the cap shit storm

Peats,Norman,Hopoate. All 3 where huge quality upgrades.
He blooded Semi while Manu was in NSW CUP mid year and KE come across. By 2014 Semi,KE and MANU where all ready for NRL. Add those 3 very good players to Peats,Norman and Hopoate and that's a huge increase in quality.
Its easy to say BA come when we where last. I call bullshit that he come at a bad time. He come at a time similar to what Ciraldo is at the Dogs.
Easy to best Pay and Barrett up. They never had a chance. Same as SK and Ricky when here.

Hayne also played a full season and won a Dally M. 2012 and 13 he missed over half the year. Add in young blokes like Paulo and Penis Hands Torpedo and Pauli Pauli and was hardly the spoon winning squads of the years before.
