Yes but where is the accountability on the player?

They choose to make this there career - should it not be the responsibility of the player and his "advisers" to understand the potential risks involved? and make an assessment based on their lifestyle, current circumstances and goals for the future?

Of course but the quality of the game and the bigger the pool of players will be better if there is more money available.

Not really. Doing an apprenticeship is in your control. A development contract doesn't mean your guaranteed a job
A development contract guarantees you a job for a year at least. Plenty of people in a range of industries do contract work for a year, often less.
And is an employer obligated to keep an apprentice once he finishes the final year of an apprenticeship?

The biggest tragedy to rugby league and growing the game was the NRL letting SEMI go to rugby.
This was the biggest ever star from Fiji in the history of the game and potentially the best ever winger the NRL has seen.
He should of been marketed big time by them. What a horrible error and missed opportunity.

A lot of people work Friday and Saturday nights because of work commitments.
I did shift work for 42 of 46 years.
It's what people do to provide for the family.

How much do you think say Craig Gower made in his rugby league career?
The thing isnthey retire and are at bottom of food chain a lot of times in career. Others have had 14yrs to climb into a reasonable position by then.

Semi was accused of something. The media jumped on board.
He was than not considered for selection for Australia after already playing for them. Eventually was found to be innocent.
I think he went to French rugby because of it.

But they are often doing weekends away. They also have to sacrifice partying and Friday and Saturday nights which are some of the funnest times in a young person's life.

Lots of people sacrifice "partying and Friday and Saturdays nights" to be masters of there craft.

Why should NRL players get special treatment? If you want it enough, you will do whatever it takes to make it a reality.

I think they don't receive good advice.
I met a player manager who had a Parra player under his care. When I mentioned life after footy
He hadn't considered what was best for the player.
Future earnings investments etc.

Does the 52k include apprentices and casual workers doing 20hrs a week but?

I would think so.

The way to statistically get a median is to line up every single wage, from lowest, to highest - the one in the middle is the median, and more indicative of what the average Joe Blow earns.

The average calculation is just adding them all up, and dividing by the total wage earners - this means that the average number is skewed massively by very high income earners, and is not a true reflection of what the aeravge Joe Blow earns.

Agree, but would you want the Roosters to get special treatment so they can keep Joseph Sua'ali'i ? Can of worms.

So what if the Roosters have 3 special players that need to be kept ? So it would be a marquee player option which would be outside the cap ? What if the Roosters can afford to pay Joseph Sua'ali'i $5m a year but the Tigers can't ?
