Which at best means he’d be a poor man’s Latrell in that position, at least Fatrell has great tackle breaking and play making abilities.
No, at best he would turn out to be a quality playmaker with a high work rate. He’s still young, and his build at least doesn’t indicate a lack of aerobic fitness. Crichton might become a great fullback. We don’t know yet. I wouldn’t write him off.

What play making skills has he shown up to date?? Nothing, he may be a decent running fullback but at 825k a season surely it’s a huge risk. Bred not bought lol.

I think he'd be a quality running fullback. The question is around his work rate, playmaking and general decision making.

Who are the best running fullbacks?

Teddy, Papenhauzen, Laurie, Walsh,Latrell,Turbo,Ponga I would say.
The thing is Teddy,Papp,Laurie and Walsh have exceptional acceleration. Latrell, turbo and Ponga have quite good passing games and awesome foot work.
Crighton is a powerfull runner. But is he explosive like Walsh or Teddy. NO. Unsure on his passing game and footwork.

I do recall when he played fullback for Penrith his defense was caught out. Of course he will learn. Also how good does he organise the defensive line?

Time will tell. I think his style makes a perfect centre.

Plenty of fullbacks would make good centres. That’s why so many play centre in Origin.

Dylan Edwards wasn't seen as a superstar. Probably still isn't. 2021 Edwards compared to 2022 was a huge leap for him.
You reckon the club wouldn't of moved on from him if they felt Crighton was the next star fullback of the game. This is a very well run club. If they felt he was a must keep then they would of let Edwards walk mate.

That team can’t afford another player on whatever Canterbury’s paying Crichton. Team balance is the key to their success. It’s not like they let Kikau walk because they have someone better to replace him. The salary cap means you need maximum value, which doesn’t mean the best player at every position.

Edwards last year had a similar season to Gutherson before he did his knee. If I remember correctly he was actually leading the Dally M.

They offered him 700k. Edwards would be on approx 550k. They could off paid the 800k to keep Crighton and let Dylan go. Put him at fullback and have 450k to spend on a new centre and be costing themself the same.

They chose Dylan as the better option.
