The point is we should be producing them on a fairly regular level and keeping then in our system long enough to get some benefit from them and eventually you will find that the players coming through will have real pride, love and affection for the quality club that we are and what we have to offer over other clubs besides just money and some if not many will choose to stay for a little less to be part of our/ their club like the best clubs manage to do.

The best rosters have players in their roster on unders that could easily go to market and get more but they cose to stay put to be with their mates and be happy. Winning games generally keeps that going and the pressure from beneath guarantees it.

Without a healthy junior system in place you will never have a quality balanced roster or sustained power house club.

I think in order to be quickly competitive we did ignore it somewhat and because we had the likes of Junior/RCG there was less opportunities (read dollars) for Oregan, Stefano, Alex Twal, etc, etc. but we were still developing them. It’s a long period that it has judged over. In BAs tenure, I reckon this is probably the 3rd cycle at most for the player development lifecycle.
The first one was leftover trash from his predecessors, the second one was the ignore in favour of NRL success and now we’re in the third where I feel there’s less standouts (players fans say are future reps) but there’s a better bulk of capable lower NRL squad players. Hopefully with a higher floor, there’s a higher or at least more consistent ceiling.
Now we’re moving into Junior/RCG last, at least last major, contract and we need to be developing their replacements (or identifying recruitment requirements). Greig potentially is one & Ofahengaue maybe a handover piece between current and future props. I think Rodwell and Moretti (not necessarily a prop) show good reserve progress but agreed they’re and we’re definitely short the next generation

Yeh, as I said a few pages back. His older brother broke his neck in a game in our junior system in 2017, and the club told him to retire, and wouldn't consider re-registering him later on. Not unreasonable behaviour, but you can understand why the player and his family think or thought otherwise.

Our origin props got skittled by a 350k prop Moses Leota. Come on for 20 mins and dismantled us basicaly. Game over. Not seem anything like it. Our middle got destroyed

Our middle hadn’t recovered from North Queensland and had no ball. Earlier this year Leota made 5 runs in 40 minutes ffs. He’s a downhill skiier. Any forward looks good when his team has all the ball.

You can compare us not signing him in 2020 to a dumb signing in 2022.
