Josh Lynn the other half was regarded as Qlds best 7 and was in the Broncos system, but was lured down to the Eels. Broncos were not impressed, he has played well and not sure why he’s out this week possibly injured. He played 6 in the SG Ball win, and played half back and goal kicker for the first 4/5 games of the season with Sanders out with a broken hand.
We currently have the second best halfback on the comp. He has plenty of years with us.

Moses will lead us through the desert and after 40 years we will enter Parradise. However Moses will not be the one to take us to Parradise, that will be Josh(ua).

Ethan is miles ahead of Josh Lynn at the moment.

It sucks we can't seem to catch a break injuries suspensions shit draw shit luck players leaving

So apart from Nathan Cleary, has any quality half (say premiership winning, Origin rep) played continuously for the same club from their junior days?

Or is the Ethan Sanders club swap par for the course for 90% of players - and talk of Josh Lynn as being our future hope in eight years time a little... unlikely for the same reason?

Like you said, Waqa is expensive for what he delivers if Panthers are not paying anything.

I am happy with our centres. We need a hooker first and then a good meter eating winger.

However, our hooker qualifications are not too high - tackle well and give good long passes in the right spot to our playmakers and middle half. Like an Api or cook is an overkill.

I think if Asi has the stamina and defense, he should be our 14 to play maybe 20-30mins. Then he can also be cover for the backs or Dylbro moves and Asi goes to 6.

I was watching Asi on the weekend though and he doesnt seem to be a effort player. I was actually surprised at the effort plays that moses does. There was a break by someone and Moses chased from the left hand side. There was support on the right hand side for the player who made the break and Moses ran between the 2 and eventually the pass went astray because Moses was there. It was a big effort play and a very good read.

When breaks were made on the right, i didnt really see Asi chasing back.
Most players have weaknesses. It’s a shame for talented players like Asi that the modern game rewards effort so much, and probably a shame for the fans as well. Because effort areas generally don’t make for compelling viewing.

I believe Manly signed him from Queensland to play Toyota Cup when he was 19/20. So not really a Manly junior strictly speaking (if we're talking from SG Ball/Harold Matthews to first grade/junior pathways).

It's not just quality/premiership-winning halves. If you go through the list of current starting halves, players that have progressed through junior pathways to solidify starting positions at either 6 or 7 are a rarity. Luke Brooks is really the only other one that has played 150+ games and that won't be the case after this season.

Was that the halfback that couldn’t make the QLD 19’s side?? The QLD half looked pretty ordinary as well.

Well it's not like Ricky has developed a half in 20 years of coaching.

What makes everyone think it will happen now.
Yep, who ever is managing him needs their head read. Ricky has killed more halfbacks careers than Peter Peters has had hot dinners. He should of signed an extension with us and learned under Moses and if he still can’t get a gig he could of went anywhere but near the Rickster.

Ricky has form throwing the bank at a junior. Not saying Sanders will be a dud.

Who was the kid (the next SBW) signed by Ricky when he was at the Sharks ? IIRC it was for a billion bucks. He then changed his name and played reggies for us for a few games ? Maybe the last bit was a dream.

We really need to focus on front rowers the most at the moment for the next 3 years or so to fill the shoes and inevitable decline of our two current trojans up front.

I also would love us to follow Gould's lead and start our own half back academy. Gould has just created the first of its kind in Australia and I am very keen to see what it produces down the track. He has been talking about it for years and now he has finally done it. So it will be very interesting to see what it involves and what comes of it down the track.

But it can only be a good think throwing focused recourses at the most important and scarce position in the game. I really hope we follow their lead and do our own and not be left behind and start to do catch up when Moses retires which will be to late.

It took us decades to find a quality half after Sterlo, I never want to see that again. We used to be the Tigers. No one wants to see that happen to us ever again. Halves make or break a team/club no matter how good the rest of your squad is. Look at the Broncos without Reynolds. I would rather we kept producing quality halves that we kept losing to other clubs because we don't have a spot for them like young Sanders then not produce them at all. Abundance is strength, scarcity is oblivion.
