We already have our top 17 outside backs. They are locked in:

Simonsson
Penisini
Russell

Not the best backline, but don't forget two of those merkins only turned 21 this year. They will be better after another preseason. And the money we're saving on these four we are spending on quality forwards and spine.

I’d agree if sivo and simo play to potential. And BA’s history with improving outside backs isn’t good. Fergo was good first year then regressed. Waqa was worse here then at Penrith

Waqa used to rip us a new one every time he played against us, he was very good for Penrith, yet the still had the foresight to get rid of him , reg, Jennings, soon as Waqa arrived here he turned to shit, not sure if that says more about him or our masterful coaching

Hands might be on minimum salary ($120k) and I doubt the cheapest 60+ minute hooker at any NRL club would be on much less than $400k. This is a merkin who makes a lot of tackles and handles the ball a lot of times. $400k is cheap for a genuine top 17 player. The mean salary across the entire squad is $300k

Why do we think Wighton is going to push Tass out of the side? Wighton (and Tass) is a better player than Ilias. He’s a Dally M winner ffs, and a left footed kicker. He can play on the left with Walker on the right. Ilias will come back into the side after Walker retires. Or the Tigers will offer him overs to replace Brooks.
