Mate, he is top 30 quality, and will be for the next two years, assuming normal ageing and no serious injuries. Whatever happened with him this year has nothing to do with his (limited) quality. If he spat the dummy that’s something he can fix, but he is a much better player than blokes who were selected ahead of him in reserve grade this year. He defended well at a variety of positions, in a team that was on the back foot all season. His run metres were down on previous years but that’s more about the way he was used. The thing about reserve grade is nobody gives a shit about results so you don’t need to pick your best (reserve grade) players. You can ‘adjust attitudes’ on the bench all you like.
