It happens all the time! Players wax and wan. And I think there’s a strong case that a 26 year old unestablished player is likely to experience a more significant downshift, and for someone already near the bottom that could mean dropping out of that top 30 quality

He doesn’t need to get worse to not be in our 30 “top 30 quality” players because currently he isn’t in it, Moretti has gone past him, potentially Mataele too.
In order to get back into it, he needs a combination of either him getting better (possible but on display so far less likely, plus others are just as likely to get better at the same rate) and others getting worse (possible but apparently players can’t get worse).
