Who are we paying overs for??? Watmough was the last player I'd say we payed overs for. Foran was good value until Sharp and his Gonad crew f**ked up how contract and all his TPA's were counted on the cap. I'd say out squad is one of the best value for money in the comp this year.
I didn't say we paid overs this year, I was referring to past history where we paid massive overs and still got the spoon. Yes Watmough was probably the second worse overpaid signing in our history, Foran being by far the worse. What is it with Manly players, do they actually do rehab at their club?

It might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm happy with De Gois where he is for this season, at least until about 3/4s the way through.

The risk is whether K Pricthard steps up his game (defence and attack) in time, so that he and De Gois can have 50-50 on field time during the final 6 rounds and semis - when I feel we'll need that type of fresh change at dummy half to get us through successfully.

If it all goes to plan, K Pritchard becomes the "majority" hooker in 2018, starting with De Gois providing solid relief off the bench. But if K Pritch doesn't up the ante, then we need a plan b for 2018 at hooker.
Plan A is Cameron King I would say with IDG and Kitchard both plan B. BA is hoping for a 80 minute DH & hoping CK fills that void. Just needs to improve his tackling technique.

So he signed him up as a 90kgs backrower?
Kaysa may flop. But we have not seen enough of him in that position.
Last years pack was yes average. Tim was out half the year. Alvaro, wicks, terepo wouldnt make half the team in comp top 17. Obrien got game time ffs. Our backrow was solid and helped make up for average pack.
Thank you Hindy. On the other site I've often mentioned those 3 players as being ordinary, having no skills, etc and been blasted by the majority of responders. When I talk about getting bigger forwards (as we still have a reasonably light weight pack) I get blasted also. At least this year every new forward has offloading skills and I expect we will generate more 2nd phase play. We should score more trys than last year where we were well down the list in points for so we don't have to rely so heavily on defence to win games.

An international rugby league star drove drunk in central Auckland before crashing and being thrown into the windscreen, a court has heard.

Peni Hillip Terepo, who plays for the NRL's Parramatta Eels, today pleaded guilty to careless driving and refusing to give a blood alcohol test.

During sentencing today at Auckland District Court, the court heard that Terepo crashed his car while driving along Parnell Rise on January 8.

After police arrived, the 25-year-old was asked to give a blood alcohol reading. However, the Auckland-born Tongan international player refused.

Community Magistrate Leigh Langridge said Terepo, who was supported in court by his mum, was "significantly intoxicated".

"It was some type of accident, police noted you did significant damage to your car and were thrown into the windscreen.

"It sounds like you were very lucky you weren't more hurt."

Terepo's lawyer argued her client, who was flying out of New Zealand tomorrow, gave an early guilty plea in the hope of dealing with the matter quickly.

"He made an error of judgment and is truly remorseful for what he has done," she said.

Terepo, who has a wife and two young children, wished to apply for a discharge without conviction, but Langridge convicted him, fined him $500, ordered him to pay $130 in court costs and disqualified him from driving for seven months.

When approached by the Herald outside court, Terepo declined to comment about his case.

The 186cm forward has played 74 NRL games for Parramatta since he debuted during the 2013 season, and played in 23 games last year.

He also played for the Eels' NRL Auckland Nines winning sqaud last year, and has played several games for Tonga, including at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup in England and Wales.

Nothing against those 3 guys, but they are just back up forwards at this stage. Very good back ups.
The fact Matagi was not making Penrith top 17 each week and deemed excess this season and will walk in as our starting team shows where the other guys would fit in at another club.

Wicks retired and I was not worried. Alvaro may become a decent prop but currently a teddy bear while Terepo runs hard he doesn't bend the line.

Of course BA thought same thing - Went for Brown-Matagi-Frank-Vae. Not one new front rower but 4 along with Twal coming thru who should end up infront of Terepo and Alvaro by season end.

I'd say Sandow was a far worse signing than Foran, at least Foran only set us back a year while Sandud was a 4 year millstone around our neck. Hoopa also for the money he was on was a shocker.

How dumb is he?? He'd be struggling to first grade as it was without giving BA more ammo.

The players we have paid overs for in no particular order - Sandow, Poore, Watmough, Hoppa and Mossop as the recent ones.

Foran ended up with more issues than any political party of recent times and was off our books costing us considerably less than what he would have had he stayed for the four years.

Really? Nathan Brown will have a lot to say about that I reckon....Matagi will start, but for Wenty.

No both top 17 thou

Matagi is, at best, 4th choice prop. 5th if you include Pritchard as a prop (I consider him more of a backrower who can play prop). He might improve in that ranking but he won't start the season starting in FG and I doubt we'll see him on the bench which will probably be KPritch, FPritch, Kenny and Terepo

Mannah
De Plod
Brown
Ma'u
Moeroa/Edwards (one on the bench, one starting)
Scott

Should be he starting pack for mine

Parramatta National Rugby League Club (PNRL) have been made aware that Peni Terepo today pleaded guilty and was convicted in Auckland District Court for careless driving and refusing to give a blood alcohol test.

PNRL Club officials were only today made aware of the matter via media reports in New Zealand and were not advised of the incident by Peni.

Parramatta Eels Chief Executive, Bernie Gurr, has made the following comments:

“The Club is extremely disappointed with Peni’s behaviour and we regard what’s taken place as extremely serious."

“Upon learning of Peni’s conviction, we have immediately alerted the NRL Integrity Unity this morning and emphasised that no Club official was aware of this incident."

“Peni has been stood down from all official club duties effective immediately and will also not be considered for selection in our Auckland Nines squad."

“We will be making no further comment until we speak with Peni early next week and receive his comments."
